Aviation Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a aviation in Colorado?
The path into aviation in Colorado runs through the FAA, which issues all core credentials, including Airman Certificates for pilots and Mechanic Certificates for maintenance technicians. Colorado does not have a separate state aviation licensing board, so federal certification is the qualifying step. Programs at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Colorado Northwestern Community College, and Front Range Community College provide FAA-approved training directly aligned with hiring requirements at Colorado carriers and maintenance facilities.
Which companies hire aviations in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring aviations in Colorado include Garver, STV, and Shrewsberry & Associates, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's combination of a major hub at Denver International Airport and significant aerospace defense contractors along the Front Range keeps employer demand broad and relatively consistent throughout the year.
Which Colorado cities have the most aviation jobs?
Denver, Lakewood, and Loveland hold the most aviation openings in Colorado. Denver leads because of Denver International Airport's scale as a major hub for United and Frontier, while Colorado Springs draws on Peterson Space Force Base and Schriever Space Force Base for defense-adjacent aviation roles, and Pueblo supports general aviation, agricultural aviation, and flight training operations through Pueblo Memorial Airport.
Are there remote aviation jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Most aviation roles require physical presence on a flight deck, ramp, hangar floor, or air traffic control facility, making full remote work uncommon by the nature of the work. About 33% of aviation openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are largely concentrated in aviation administration, flight dispatch coordination, and regulatory compliance roles.
How can I get hired as a aviation in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a regional carrier or flight school in Colorado, where lower total-hour requirements open the door before you meet the thresholds major carriers require. Frontier Airlines and local flight academies at Colorado Northwestern Community College regularly place new-certificate holders into first-officer or instructor pipelines. For mechanics, entry-level ramp service and line service technician roles at Denver International Airport provide hands-on hours that directly support an FAA Mechanic Certificate application.
