Key Responsibilities:
- Establish, lead, and scale Quantinuum’s global employment-law function for a newly public company, including strategy, priorities, processes, playbooks, reporting, and operating rhythms aligned with business objectives, public company expectations, and effective partnership across the company.
- Provide advice and counsel to executive leadership, People team professionals, and business leaders on a broad range of employment matters, including recruiting, hiring, employee relations, discipline and terminations, internal investigations, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, EEO compliance, accommodations, restrictive covenants, immigration-related employment issues, contingent worker matters, and workforce transitions.
- Serve as a decisive, trusted advisor on complex employee relations, workplace conduct, organizational change, and workforce risk matters, helping resolve issues early where possible and positioning the company effectively where disputes may arise.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment, separation, settlement, restrictive covenant, confidentiality, and related agreements.
- Partner with the People, Compliance, Security, Finance, and business teams to develop and maintain global employment policies, training, and practical processes that are scalable, compliant, and easy for the business to apply.
- Partner cross-functionally on the establishment and maintenance of legal entities and related employment, governance, payroll, benefits, immigration, tax, and regulatory compliance requirements in new and existing jurisdictions.
- Lead or provide legal guidance on internal investigations involving employment, workplace conduct, retaliation, whistleblower, compliance, or other sensitive matters, coordinating with Legal, Risk & Compliance, People, Finance, Security, and outside counsel as appropriate.
- Defend, supervise, and manage employment-related claims, agency charges, threatened litigation, attorney correspondence, settlement demands, and related matters globally, bringing strong litigation judgment, disciplined outside counsel management, and practical resolution strategy.
- Manage employment-law outside counsel relationships, budgets, accruals, and related legal spending with fiscal discipline, accountability, and a focus on clear business outcomes.
You Must Have:
- Minimum Juris Doctor, LLB, or law degree + admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum 15+ years of legal experience, including significant employment-law experience in-house, at a reputable law firm, or in an equivalent setting.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

- In-depth knowledge of employment law gained through law firm and/or in-house experience, including experience advising multinational technology or other high-growth companies.
- Significant experience representing or advising companies in employment litigation and disputes, including matters before courts, agencies, arbitrators, mediators, regulators, or similar forums.
- Public company experience, including advising on employment-related governance expectations, disclosure-sensitive matters, executive-level decision-making, and the development of scalable legal processes in a public or newly public company environment.
- Experience building, formalizing, or significantly scaling an employment-law function from the ground up in a newly public or public company environment, including designing for scale and creating practical infrastructure, operating processes, policies, templates, reporting mechanisms, and decision frameworks that make the function an established partner across the company.
- Required experience supporting the establishment of legal entities, launching new geographies and locations, and creating scalable employment solutions in new regions, including partnering cross-functionally to maintain employment, corporate, tax, payroll, benefits, immigration, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with changing priorities, evolving global requirements, and a need for sound judgment, responsible urgency, decisiveness, and risk-calibrated decision-making when facts are still developing.
- Pragmatic, business-oriented style with a demonstrated ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable policies, processes, playbooks, and guidance that enable the business.
- Collaborative approach to leadership, knowledge sharing, and team development, with comfort operating in a global, cross-functional environment that values accountability, integrity, and partnership.
- Excellent knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment laws and required experience advising on UK employment matters, with the ability to coordinate effectively on other non-U.S. employment matters and partner with local counsel as needed. Experience with EMEA and APAC employment matters is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to draft clear, practical, and original legal documents, policies, communications, and executive-ready guidance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to help non-experts understand legal requirements, risk tradeoffs, and recommended actions.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, outward-looking, and collaborative, with an inclusive, non-bureaucratic approach and the willingness to personally own and execute core work while enabling responsible business execution.
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed teams, multiple jurisdictions, and stakeholders across different time zones.
