Entry Level Avionics Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level avionics engineer job?
Entry level avionics engineer roles reward candidates who can show hands-on work, even if that work came from a senior capstone project, a university avionics lab, or an internship with an aerospace contractor. Employers at this level look for familiarity with DO-178C or DO-254 standards, experience with embedded C or VHDL, and any exposure to real-time operating systems. A well-documented portfolio project, such as a flight computer prototype or a sensor integration build, gives hiring managers something concrete to evaluate.
Which companies hire entry level avionics engineers?
Companies hiring entry level avionics engineers right now include Collins Aerospace, Blue Origin, and Gulfstream Aerospace, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of major defense primes, regional aerospace manufacturers, and government contractors who regularly bring on new graduates to support avionics integration, testing, and certification programs.
Are there remote entry level avionics engineer jobs?
Yes, though most avionics roles at the entry level are on-site because the work involves physical hardware, lab testing, and restricted facilities. About 10% of entry level avionics engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be software-heavy positions focused on simulation, model-based design, or documentation rather than bench-level integration work.
Are these new grad avionics engineer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior avionics engineer roles alongside broader entry level postings. A new grad-friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or co-op work in place of full-time history, and does not require a professional engineering license. Some postings explicitly invite candidates with a strong senior thesis or capstone project to apply.
Which industries hire the most entry level avionics engineers?
Entry Level avionics engineer roles concentrate in Aerospace & Defense, Manufacturing, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive entry level hiring because avionics development cycles require large teams of engineers at the integration and verification stages, creating consistent openings for candidates who are early in their careers.
