Bookkeeper Jobs in St. Louis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a bookkeeper job in St. Louis?
Start with St. Louis's healthcare networks, regional accounting firms, and the professional services corridor in Clayton, where bookkeeper demand is most consistent. Familiarity with QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite gives you a practical edge over other candidates. Nonprofits in the Central West End and manufacturing companies south of the city also hire regularly. Candidates who can demonstrate clean reconciliation work and AP/AR experience move faster through local hiring pipelines.
Which companies hire bookkeepers in St. Louis?
Employers hiring bookkeepers in St. Louis right now include Swink Coplen & Company, P.C., Honkamp, and IMPERIAL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. St. Louis's mix of healthcare systems, regional banks, and mid-size professional services firms means steady, diverse openings across the metro.
Are there remote bookkeeper jobs in St. Louis?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: full-cycle and advisory bookkeeping positions are more remote-friendly than those requiring daily on-site deposits or cash handling. About 80% of bookkeeper openings tied to St. Louis are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the remote share strongest in financial services and consulting firms. On-site requirements are most common at retail, healthcare, and hospitality employers.
How can I get a bookkeeper job in St. Louis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in St. Louis is through accounts payable or data entry roles at mid-size companies in Clayton or the Midtown Alley business corridor. Local credit unions, property management firms, and smaller nonprofits frequently hire junior bookkeeping assistants who can grow into full-charge positions. A certificate from St. Louis Community College paired with QuickBooks proficiency signals readiness to local employers and shortens hiring timelines considerably.
