Business Development Consultant Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development consultant job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's Energy Corridor, Greenway Plaza, and the Galleria area, where energy services, healthcare systems, and technology firms concentrate most of their business development hiring. Candidates who understand Houston's oil and gas supply chain or have relationships with major medical center institutions stand out. Tailoring your pitch to the city's industry mix, rather than using a generic resume, gives you a real edge in this market.
Which companies hire business development consultants in Houston?
Employers hiring business development consultants in Houston right now include Deloitte, Crowe LLP, and EY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring base is broad, ranging from large energy services firms and hospital systems to midsize logistics companies and early-stage technology startups in the Greentown Labs and Ion District ecosystem.
Are there remote business development consultant jobs in Houston?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role, since business development consulting often requires in-person client meetings and relationship-building that limits fully remote arrangements. About 29% of business development consultant openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid being the more common setup. Account research, proposal writing, and pipeline management tasks are the functions most commonly handled off-site in Houston-based roles.
How can I get a business development consultant job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through a business development representative or sales development role at one of the city's many energy services, healthcare IT, or logistics firms, where entry-level hiring is steady. Companies in the Ion District and Greentown Labs startup ecosystem regularly bring on junior business development staff willing to train. Familiarity with Houston's dominant industries, even from an internship or coursework angle, and a willingness to work accounts regionally gives newer candidates a genuine advantage over generalist applicants.
Which industries hire the most business development consultants in Houston?
The sectors hiring the most business development consultants in Houston are Consulting & Professional Services, Accounting & Auditing, and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's position as the global hub for energy, its Texas Medical Center anchor, and its growing technology and logistics infrastructure all generate persistent demand for consultants who can open new accounts and grow client relationships across those industries.
