Business Intelligence Analyst Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business intelligence analyst in Indiana?
Most Indiana employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, information systems, computer science, or a related field as the foundation for this role. Business intelligence analyst positions carry no state-issued license or registration in Indiana, so hiring decisions turn on technical skills and demonstrated experience. Earning vendor-recognized credentials such as Microsoft's Power BI certification or Tableau Desktop Specialist designation meaningfully strengthens a candidate's profile with Indiana's healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services employers.
How much do business intelligence analysts make in Indiana?
Business intelligence analysts in Indiana earn a median of about $91,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,750 for the lowest 10% to over $141,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business intelligence analysts in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring business intelligence analysts in Indiana include Cook, Cook Myosite, and Parkview Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's concentration of large healthcare systems, insurance carriers, and advanced manufacturing firms creates steady, recurring demand for BI professionals statewide.
Which Indiana cities have the most business intelligence analyst jobs?
Evansville, Bloomington, and Fort Wayne consistently post the most business intelligence analyst openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates due to its density of corporate headquarters, health systems, and financial services firms, while Fort Wayne benefits from a strong manufacturing and logistics base and Bloomington draws openings tied to Indiana University and its affiliated research and health operations.
Are there remote business intelligence analyst jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than most fields. Business intelligence analyst work is heavily desk-based and output-driven, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 0% of business intelligence analyst openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have accepted distributed BI teams. Dashboard development, reporting, and data modeling tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a business intelligence analyst in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a data-adjacent role such as reporting analyst, business analyst, or data coordinator, positions that Indiana's large healthcare networks and insurance companies hire for in volume. Employers like Indiana University Health and OneAmerica run associate or rotational analyst programs that accept candidates with limited direct BI experience. Building a portfolio of Power BI or Tableau dashboards using public Indiana datasets and earning an entry-level certification substantially improves candidacy at these organizations.
