Business Operations Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business operations professional in Tennessee?
Most business operations roles in Tennessee require a bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, or a closely related field, though employers in logistics and healthcare often value relevant experience equally. Tennessee does not require a state-issued license for general business operations work. Candidates strengthen their prospects by earning recognized credentials such as a Project Management Professional certification or a Lean Six Sigma belt, then targeting Tennessee's large corporate and healthcare employers who post entry and mid-level roles regularly.
Which companies hire business operations professionals in Tennessee?
Employers hiring business operations professionals in Tennessee right now include Oracle, Lyft, and Philips, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of healthcare systems, logistics companies, and regional corporate headquarters means demand for operations talent is spread across multiple industries rather than a single sector.
Which Tennessee cities have the most business operations jobs?
Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville have the most business operations openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads due to its dense concentration of healthcare, finance, and corporate headquarters, while Memphis is driven by its logistics and distribution industries anchored by major freight and supply chain companies, and Knoxville draws from its manufacturing base and regional corporate offices in the eastern part of the state.
Are there remote business operations jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since business operations work is largely desk-based and analytical. About 67% of business operations openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the broader shift toward flexible arrangements among corporate employers. Roles focused on data analysis, process documentation, and project coordination tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions tied to physical facilities or on-site team management typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a business operations professional in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an operations coordinator or administrative analyst role at one of Tennessee's large healthcare systems or logistics companies, which regularly hire candidates without extensive experience into rotational or associate programs. HCA Healthcare and FedEx, for example, run structured early-career programs in Tennessee that develop operations skills on the job. Candidates transitioning from adjacent roles such as customer service, office management, or data entry can also move into operations. Earning a Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certificate before applying gives an edge in competitive applicant pools.
Where can I find and apply to business operations jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to business operations jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and location preferences, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
