Business Systems Analyst Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business systems analyst in Minnesota?
Most business systems analyst roles in Minnesota require a bachelor's degree in information systems, business administration, computer science, or a related field. Minnesota does not issue a state license for this role, so hiring decisions turn on education, demonstrable technical skills, and certifications like the CBAP from the International Institute of Business Analysis or the PMI-PBA. Many Minnesota employers, particularly in healthcare and financial services, also weight practical ERP or data analysis experience heavily during screening.
How much do business systems analysts make in Minnesota?
Business systems analysts in Minnesota earn a median of about $106,350 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,700 for the lowest 10% to over $148,230 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business systems analysts in Minnesota?
Minnesota business systems analyst roles are posted by Mayo Clinic, Esolvit, and Optum and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The Twin Cities' dense concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and large healthcare systems means Minnesota has unusually broad employer variety for this role.
Which Minnesota cities have the most business systems analyst jobs?
Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Eden Prairie account for the largest share of business systems analyst openings in Minnesota. The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro drives most of the volume thanks to its headquarters cluster in retail, insurance, and financial services, while Rochester's openings are anchored almost entirely by Mayo Clinic and its affiliated health technology vendors.
Are there remote business systems analyst jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 70% of business systems analyst openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the analytical and documentation-heavy nature of the work translates to distributed teams. Requirements-gathering and process-mapping work tends to be the most consistently remote, while on-site go-live support and stakeholder workshops more often require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a business systems analyst in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior or associate business analyst role, which large Twin Cities employers in healthcare IT and retail technology regularly post as new-grad positions. Companies like UnitedHealth Group and Target run structured rotational or associate programs that place candidates without direct experience alongside senior analysts. A lateral move from a business operations, data coordinator, or IT support role is also common. Earning the Entry Certificate in Business Analysis from the International Institute of Business Analysis strengthens an application significantly when experience is thin.
Where can I find and apply to business systems analyst jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to business systems analyst jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings updated in real time. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your background and preferred location or work arrangement, and apply directly through each posting.
