Civil Engineering Intern Jobs in Denver: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a civil engineering intern job in Denver?
Target Denver's busiest hiring sectors: municipal infrastructure, stormwater and water resources, and transportation planning tied to RTD and CDOT projects. Firms clustered in the Central Business District and along the I-25 corridor hire heavily. A strong edge comes from coursework in hydraulics or structural design, familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D, and connections made through the Colorado State University or CU Denver engineering programs.
Which companies hire civil engineering interns in Denver?
Companies currently hiring civil engineering interns in Denver include Jacobs, HDR, and S.A. Miro, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Denver's hiring mix leans toward regional engineering consultancies, municipal agencies, and large contractors with active public-works and infrastructure portfolios in the metro area.
Are there remote civil engineering intern jobs in Denver?
Yes, though only partially, since most civil engineering intern tasks involve field visits, lab work, or on-site construction observation that cannot be done remotely. About 56% of civil engineering intern openings tied to Denver are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting roles where analytical tasks like CAD drafting, reporting, or GIS mapping can shift off-site while field days remain in person.
How can I get a civil engineering intern job in Denver with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Denver is applying to municipal agencies like Denver Public Works or Denver Water, which run structured intern programs that explicitly welcome underclassmen. Local engineering consultancies along the South Broadway and Greenwood Village corridors also hire project-support interns with limited field experience. A portfolio showing AutoCAD drafts, hydrology coursework, or a senior capstone project tied to Colorado conditions sets candidates apart from generic applicants.
Which industries hire the most civil engineering interns in Denver?
Denver civil engineering intern roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Denver's rapid population growth, ongoing RTD transit expansion, and Front Range water infrastructure investment keep these sectors consistently active for entry-level engineering talent.
