About the Role
You'll own the development of work instructions for our assembly and integration processes. This is the documentation technicians rely on to build every trailer as well as capture time study data that tells us how long those processes actually take.
This is a focused, high-ownership internship: rather than rotating across scattered projects, you'll go deep on two of the most foundational inputs in any production organization. You'll spend a lot of time on the floor watching how builds actually happen, translating that into clear, repeatable instructions, and quantifying the work so we can balance the line and plan capacity.
Because our processes are still being established, you won't be maintaining mature systems, you'll be helping build them.
You'll report to the Manufacturing Engineering team and partner closely with Production Technicians, Supervisors, and Quality.
This is a full-time, paid internship running now through late September (approximately 8 weeks). We're open to shifting to a part-time schedule in the final weeks for candidates returning to fall classes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and refine work instructions for assembly and integration processes
- Conduct time studies to capture cycle times and process data across build stations
- Spend time on the floor observing builds to capture accurate process steps, sequences, and standards
- Photograph and document tooling, fixtures, and key build steps to support clear visual instructions
- Validate instructions against actual builds and revise based on technician feedback
- Standardize formatting and structure so documentation is consistent and scalable across the line
- Organize and summarize time study data to support line balancing and capacity planning
- Partner with technicians, supervisors, and quality to ensure instructions reflect the correct build methods
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with CAD software
- Familiarity with Google software suite
- Strong written communication and an eye for clarity, sequence, and detail
- Comfort reading engineering drawings and translating physical processes into written steps
- Comfort capturing and organizing data with attention to accuracy
- Hands-on aptitude and genuine interest in how things are physically built and assembled
- Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity in an environment where processes are still being defined
- Healthcare, Dental, Vision
- 401k
- 13 Company Holidays: 8 throughout the year + the company observes a week of scheduled downtime during the end of the year, allowing all employees to enjoy a break
- 12 weeks paid parental leave
- Yearly LightTrip stipend for an RV trip &/or professional development opportunities

Engineering Intern Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a engineering intern in Colorado?
Becoming an engineering intern in Colorado starts with enrollment in an ABET-accredited engineering program at a Colorado institution such as the University of Colorado Boulder, Colorado State University, Colorado School of Mines, or the University of Denver. Most internships require completion of at least one year of core engineering coursework. No state license is required to work as an intern, but pursuing Engineer-in-Training status through the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers, and Professional Land Surveyors strengthens your candidacy.
Which companies hire engineering interns in Colorado?
Colorado engineering intern roles are posted by Stantec, Lightship, and King Soopers and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Colorado's concentration of aerospace primes, defense contractors, and civil infrastructure firms means intern openings appear year-round across a broad range of engineering disciplines.
Which Colorado cities have the most engineering intern jobs?
Denver, Boulder, and Berthoud have the most engineering intern openings in Colorado. Denver leads because it serves as the headquarters or major regional office for aerospace, civil, and energy firms, while Boulder's technology and research corridor and Colorado Springs' dense cluster of defense contractors and military installations drive strong intern hiring in their own right.
Are there remote engineering intern jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. About 50% of engineering intern openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on lab, field, and facility work most engineering internships require. The sub-disciplines most likely to offer any remote flexibility are software-adjacent roles such as data engineering, controls software, or computational modeling.
How can I get hired as a engineering intern in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is applying directly to structured intern programs at Colorado's large aerospace and defense employers, which are designed for students with limited prior experience. Lockheed Martin Space, Raytheon Intelligence and Space, and AECOM all run intern cohorts that begin with foundational assignments. Building a portfolio through university project teams, the Colorado School of Mines' design competitions, or CU Boulder's senior design lab also strengthens an application when direct work experience is thin.
Where can I find and apply to engineering intern jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to engineering intern jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings across all major engineering disciplines and hiring regions. Search the roles that fit your discipline, location preference, and availability, then apply directly to the ones that match your background.
