Civil Project Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a civil project manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's infrastructure and energy sectors, where demand for civil project managers is strongest. Engineering and construction firms tied to TxDOT highway expansions, Harris County flood control programs, and Port of Houston logistics improvements hire regularly. Candidates with a PE license, CAPM or PMP certification, and direct experience in drainage, roadway, or utility projects stand out in this market.
Which companies hire civil project managers in Houston?
Houston civil project manager roles are posted by Primoris Services Corporation, GHD, and Westwood Professional Services and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring base ranges from large ENR-ranked engineering firms with Gulf Coast regional offices to municipal contractors working directly with the City of Houston and Harris County.
Are there remote civil project manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, but only for specific functions, since civil project management is heavily site-dependent. About 13% of civil project manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with most flexibility found in planning, permitting coordination, and document control phases rather than active construction oversight.
How can I get a civil project manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through a project engineer or assistant project manager role with a mid-size civil contractor or an engineering firm serving TxDOT or Harris County. Houston's ongoing investment in flood mitigation and highway widening creates consistent openings for junior staff. A civil engineering degree, internship experience on local infrastructure, and familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D all strengthen entry-level applications.
Which industries hire the most civil project managers in Houston?
Most civil project manager openings in Houston sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Energy, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's scale as a port city and its ongoing federally funded flood-resilience and highway programs keep demand across those sectors consistently high.
