Clinical Research Assistant Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical research assistant in Indiana?
Most Indiana employers require a bachelor's degree in a life science, nursing, public health, or a closely related field as the starting point. Indiana does not issue a state-specific license for clinical research assistants, but earning the Society of Clinical Research Associates credential or a Good Clinical Practice certification is widely recognized by Indiana academic medical centers and pharmaceutical employers. Many candidates enter through research coordinator internships or study coordinator roles at institutions affiliated with Indiana University or Purdue University.
Which companies hire clinical research assistants in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring clinical research assistants in Indiana include Eli Lilly, IQVIA, and Indiana University, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters and large academic health systems means hiring is consistent year-round rather than seasonal.
Which Indiana cities have the most clinical research assistant jobs?
Indianapolis, Indiana, and Evansville have the most clinical research assistant openings in Indiana. Indianapolis drives the largest share of listings because it is home to Eli Lilly's global headquarters, Indiana University Health's network of research hospitals, and a dense cluster of contract research organizations, while Bloomington and South Bend benefit from proximity to major university research programs and affiliated medical facilities that run ongoing clinical trials.
Are there remote clinical research assistant jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Many core clinical research assistant duties, such as patient screening, specimen handling, and on-site monitoring visits, require physical presence at a clinic or trial site. About 50% of clinical research assistant openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to focus on regulatory document management, data entry, and sponsor-facing coordination that can be handled off-site.
How can I get hired as a clinical research assistant in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to research coordinator internships or research assistant positions posted through Indiana University Health's academic research programs or Purdue University's clinical research partnerships. Adjacent roles such as medical assistant, phlebotomist, or patient care technician at large Indiana hospital networks provide the patient-interaction experience that hiring managers look for. Completing a Good Clinical Practice training certification before applying gives candidates a concrete credential that distinguishes them from other entry-level applicants in Indiana's competitive research job market.
Where can I find and apply to clinical research assistant jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to clinical research assistant jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
