Clinical Therapist Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical therapist in Wisconsin?
You become a clinical therapist in Wisconsin by earning a master's degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related clinical field, then obtaining licensure through the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Depending on your focus, the relevant credential is the Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Each requires supervised post-graduate hours and a passing score on the applicable national examination before full licensure is granted.
Which companies hire clinical therapists in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin clinical therapist roles are posted by LifeStance Health, Mercyhealth, and SSM Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Wisconsin's blend of large integrated health systems, federally qualified health centers, and independent community mental health agencies means hiring activity is spread across both urban and rural settings statewide.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most clinical therapist jobs?
Beloit, Mequon, and Kenosha account for the most clinical therapist openings in Wisconsin. Milwaukee leads because of its concentration of large hospital systems and community behavioral health organizations, Madison's demand is driven by the UW Health network and university-affiliated counseling programs, and Green Bay's activity reflects growing behavioral health infrastructure serving the broader northeast Wisconsin region.
Are there remote clinical therapist jobs in Wisconsin?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since clinical therapist work often involves in-person assessment, crisis response, and group programming. About 100% of clinical therapist openings tied to Wisconsin are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, which is meaningful given the hands-on nature of the role. Telehealth therapy sessions and remote care management positions are the most consistently remote-eligible segments of the field.
How can I get hired as a clinical therapist in Wisconsin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a post-master's supervised residency or associate-level clinician position, which Wisconsin employers like Froedtert Health, Rogers Behavioral Health, and county-run community mental health centers regularly post for pre-licensed candidates. Roles titled clinical therapist associate, behavioral health therapist, or case manager commonly serve as stepping stones into fully licensed clinical work. Completing your supervised hours through one of these positions while working toward your Wisconsin LCSW or LPC credential gives you the strongest combination of experience and licensure progress.
Where can I find and apply to clinical therapist jobs in Wisconsin?
You can find and apply to clinical therapist jobs in Wisconsin on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your license level, specialty, and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
