Cloud Software Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud software engineer in Florida?
Cloud software engineering has no state-issued license in Florida, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skills. Most Florida employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or information systems, though candidates from Florida's strong coding bootcamp ecosystem are increasingly competitive. Earning a recognized cloud certification, such as AWS Certified Developer or Microsoft Certified Azure Developer, signals practical readiness. Building a portfolio of deployed cloud projects strengthens applications significantly across Florida's tech hiring markets.
How much do cloud software engineers make in Florida?
Cloud software engineers in Florida earn a median of about $130,980 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,050 for the lowest 10% to over $204,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cloud software engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring cloud software engineers in Florida right now include L3Harris, Northrop Grumman, and FIS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's blend of defense contracting, fintech, and large healthcare systems means demand comes from a broad set of industries rather than a single concentrated tech sector.
Which Florida cities have the most cloud software engineer jobs?
Melbourne, Tampa, and Sunrise have the most cloud software engineer openings in Florida. Tampa's concentration of financial services and cybersecurity firms, Miami's growing fintech and international tech hub, and Orlando's defense contracting and simulation technology industry each generate consistent demand, while smaller markets like Jacksonville benefit from large insurance and banking back-office operations.
Are there remote cloud software engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of cloud software engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally the role suits distributed work. Roles focused on cloud infrastructure, backend services, and platform engineering tend to have the highest remote availability, while positions requiring security clearances or on-site lab access at Florida defense contractors are more likely to require an in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a cloud software engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate or junior cloud engineer role, which Florida employers in fintech and healthcare technology hire for consistently. Large Florida-based organizations such as AdventHealth and Raymond James run structured new-graduate and early-career programs that accept candidates without direct cloud experience. Transitioning from adjacent roles such as systems administrator, IT support analyst, or QA engineer is common. Earning an entry-level cloud certification and completing at least one end-to-end cloud project you can demonstrate in an interview moves a resume to the top of the pile.
Where can I find and apply to cloud software engineer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to cloud software engineer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across the state's major hiring markets. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly.
