Align your credentials to ABB's technical standards
ABB manufacturing roles typically require demonstrated proficiency in industrial automation, electromechanical systems, or quality control processes. Gather documentation showing hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics, or lean manufacturing before applying.
Target ABB facilities with active production lines
ABB operates manufacturing plants across states like North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas. Roles tied to active production facilities are more likely to carry sponsorship approval than corporate or distribution positions, so filter your search by plant location.
Use Migrate Mate to surface sponsored openings fast
Manufacturing Associate listings at large industrial employers turn over quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter ABB roles by visa sponsorship availability so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is confirmed, not guessing from a generic job posting.
Prepare for a skills-based interview process
ABB's manufacturing hiring process commonly includes technical assessments covering safety protocols, equipment operation, and process documentation. Having certifications like OSHA 10, Six Sigma, or forklift licensing on your resume reduces friction during employer review.
Understand when your employer files the H-1B petition
For H-1B sponsorship, your employer must file Form I-129 with USCIS before the fiscal year cap registration window in March. Confirm during the offer stage that ABB's HR team has initiated the Labor Condition Application with DOL before your start date.

Does ABB sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Associates?
Yes, ABB sponsors H-1B visas for Manufacturing Associate roles. As a large multinational employer in the industrial automation and electrification sectors, ABB has an established immigration program that handles H-1B petitions through USCIS. Sponsorship is more common for roles requiring specialized technical skills, so your application is strongest when your background aligns closely with the specific production or engineering function listed.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Associate jobs at ABB?
Applications go through ABB's careers portal at abb.com. Search by role title and filter by U.S. locations tied to active manufacturing facilities. Tailoring your resume to reflect the equipment, systems, or quality standards in the job description improves your chances of clearing the initial screening. You can also browse sponsorship-confirmed openings on Migrate Mate before applying directly through ABB's portal.
Which visa types does ABB commonly use for Manufacturing Associate roles?
ABB primarily uses the H-1B visa for specialty occupation manufacturing roles and sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for employees pursuing permanent residency. H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant path for manufacturing professionals with a relevant bachelor's degree. EB-3 is frequently used for roles that involve skilled trade work and meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage and job requirement standards.
What qualifications does ABB expect for Manufacturing Associate positions?
ABB generally looks for candidates with a degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or a closely related technical field. Hands-on experience with automation systems, quality assurance processes, or production line operations strengthens your candidacy. Familiarity with lean manufacturing, ISO standards, or PLC programming is a recurring requirement across ABB's U.S. manufacturing sites, particularly those supporting robotics and electrification product lines.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for ABB Manufacturing Associates?
For H-1B sponsorship, ABB must first file a Labor Condition Application with DOL, then submit Form I-129 to USCIS during the annual cap registration period in March. Standard processing runs three to five months after filing. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, the full process from labor certification to immigrant visa approval commonly spans two to four years depending on your country of birth and visa priority date.
