Align your credentials to ABM's project scope
ABM operates in facilities engineering, building systems, and infrastructure services. Frame your resume around mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering experience tied to commercial or industrial environments, since those map directly to ABM's core service lines.
Target roles in facilities-heavy metro markets
ABM concentrates Engineering work in cities with dense commercial real estate and infrastructure demand. Focus your applications on offices in New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles, where ABM maintains active project pipelines and Engineering headcount.
Confirm sponsorship eligibility before your final interview
ABM's willingness to sponsor varies by role level and business unit. Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific Engineering position is approved for H-1B sponsorship before investing time in later interview rounds.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified ABM Engineering openings
Not every ABM job listing specifies visa sponsorship upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter Engineering roles at ABM that are confirmed sponsorship-eligible, so you're not applying to positions that won't move your immigration status forward.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to demonstrate specialty occupation status. If your Engineering degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before ABM's immigration counsel begins the I-129 filing.
Understand ABM's PERM timeline if you're targeting a Green Card
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, ABM must complete DOL's PERM labor certification before filing your immigrant petition. That process typically takes 12 to 18 months, so raise long-term sponsorship intentions with your hiring manager during the offer stage, not after you start.

Find Engineering at ABM Industries JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does ABM Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, ABM Industries sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. Sponsorship is typically available for positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline. Availability can vary by business unit and role level, so confirm directly with the recruiter whether the specific position you're applying for is approved for H-1B sponsorship before progressing to final rounds.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at ABM Industries?
You can apply through ABM's careers portal or find sponsorship-confirmed Engineering openings on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa eligibility. Tailor your application to ABM's focus areas, specifically facilities management, building systems, and infrastructure services. Highlight any experience with commercial or industrial environments, since those map most directly to the Engineering roles ABM actively hires for.
Which visa types does ABM Industries use for Engineering roles?
ABM Industries sponsors both nonimmigrant and immigrant visas for Engineers. For temporary work authorization, the H-1B is the primary pathway. For permanent residence, ABM has used the EB-2 and EB-3 categories, which require completing the PERM labor certification process with the Department of Labor before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does ABM Industries expect for sponsored Engineering roles?
ABM generally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field relevant to the role, such as mechanical, electrical, civil, or systems engineering. For H-1B eligibility, the position must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning the degree requirement must be specific to the role, not just any bachelor's degree.
How do I plan my timeline around ABM Industries' visa sponsorship process?
If you're targeting an H-1B, ABM must file your petition by April 1 for an October 1 start date, since USCIS runs a lottery in March. Build your job search timeline backward from that window. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, expect the full process to take two or more years from the time ABM initiates the labor certification with the DOL.
