Document Your Trade Certifications Before Applying
ABM evaluates Repair Technicians on verifiable credentials like EPA 608, OSHA safety certifications, and equipment-specific training. Gather official copies of every certification before you apply, because gaps in documentation can slow LCA and H-1B petition preparation significantly.
Target ABM's Facility Services Divisions Directly
ABM operates across janitorial, electrical, HVAC, and integrated facility services divisions. Repair Technician openings cluster in their technical services and engineering divisions, so filtering your search by those business units puts you in front of hiring managers who regularly work with sponsored roles.
Understand How EB-2 and EB-3 Paths Apply Here
Repair Technician roles at ABM typically align with EB-3 skilled worker classification rather than EB-2, since the position requires specialized trade training rather than an advanced degree. Confirm this distinction with your employer early so PERM labor certification is filed under the correct category.
Find Open Repair Technician Roles on Migrate Mate
ABM posts Repair Technician openings across multiple U.S. markets at varying times. Search Migrate Mate to filter specifically for ABM roles that have a visa sponsorship track record, so you're applying to positions where the pathway has already been used for this function.
Raise Sponsorship Intent Early in Recruiter Conversations
ABM's recruitment process for technical roles moves quickly once a skills match is confirmed. Disclosing your visa status during the first recruiter screen, rather than after an offer, avoids late-stage complications and lets ABM's HR team route you to the correct sponsorship workflow from the start.
Plan Around H-1B Cap Timing if You Hold OPT
If you're currently on F-1 OPT, the annual H-1B cap registration window opens in March for an October 1 start date. ABM would need to file your I-129 petition after selection, so align your job search timeline to ensure an offer is in place well before the USCIS registration period opens.

Find Repair Technician at ABM Industries JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does ABM Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Repair Technicians?
Yes, ABM Industries sponsors H-1B visas for Repair Technician roles. The position needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which means the role must require at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific technical field. ABM's HR and legal teams handle the H-1B petition process, including the required Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL before USCIS submission.
How do I apply for Repair Technician jobs at ABM Industries?
Applications go through ABM's careers portal, where Repair Technician openings are listed by region and division. You can also browse current openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles at employers with a visa sponsorship history. When applying, include your trade certifications and be transparent about your visa status in the application or early in the recruiter screen to avoid delays.
Which visa types does ABM Industries commonly use for Repair Technician roles?
ABM sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based Green Cards, primarily through the EB-3 skilled worker category, for Repair Technician positions. EB-3 is the more common Green Card path for trade and technical roles since it covers workers with at least two years of training or experience rather than requiring an advanced degree. The PERM labor certification process through DOL is the required first step for EB-3.
What qualifications does ABM Industries expect for sponsored Repair Technician positions?
ABM typically looks for hands-on experience with HVAC systems, electrical maintenance, plumbing, or building automation, depending on the specific facility contract. EPA 608 certification and OSHA safety training are common requirements. For H-1B eligibility, your background needs to demonstrate a level of specialized knowledge equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline, which can include a combination of formal education and documented work experience.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Repair Technician at ABM Industries?
For H-1B sponsorship, the DOL must certify the Labor Condition Application before USCIS processes the I-129 petition, a sequence that typically takes three to six months under standard processing. USCIS premium processing can shorten the petition adjudication to about 15 business days for an additional fee. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a longer process, often taking two or more years from initial filing to approval depending on your country of birth and the prevailing priority date backlog.
