Align your credentials with engagement accounting
CrossCountry staffs Project Accountants on client-facing engagements, so certifications like CPA or CMA carry real weight. Get your credential evaluations completed early if your degree is from outside the U.S., since USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation claims for accounting roles.
Target openings tied to active client verticals
CrossCountry's Project Accountant demand follows client workload, not a fixed hiring calendar. Filter open roles by practice area, such as financial advisory or business transformation, to find positions where visa sponsorship is most likely already built into the hiring plan.
Use Migrate Mate to surface sponsored openings
Not every Project Accountant posting at CrossCountry explicitly mentions sponsorship. Search for these roles on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for employers with a verified sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which listings are worth applying to.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
CrossCountry sponsors multiple visa types, and the right one depends on your citizenship and current status. Before an offer is extended, confirm with the recruiter whether you need H-1B cap sponsorship, an E-3 if you're Australian, or a TN if you're Canadian or Mexican.
Understand how LCA prevailing wages apply to your role
DOL's Labor Condition Application process requires CrossCountry to certify your offered wage meets prevailing wage standards for Project Accountant roles in the posting location. Research DOL wage levels for your metro area so you can evaluate whether an offer aligns before negotiating.
Build project delivery experience before applying
CrossCountry's Project Accountant roles sit at the intersection of accounting and client delivery, not pure back-office finance. Candidates who can speak to budget tracking, client reporting, and workstream coordination on consulting or advisory projects stand out in both screening and visa petition documentation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CrossCountry Consulting sponsor H-1B visas for Project Accountants?
Yes, CrossCountry Consulting sponsors H-1B visas for Project Accountant roles. Because standard H-1B cap petitions are subject to the annual lottery, timing matters. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, you may be eligible for a cap-exempt transfer, which avoids the lottery entirely and speeds up the transition to CrossCountry.
How do I apply for Project Accountant jobs at CrossCountry Consulting?
You can find and apply for Project Accountant openings at CrossCountry Consulting through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles from employers with a verified sponsorship history. When you apply, be upfront about your visa status in your cover materials. CrossCountry's recruiters are familiar with sponsorship processes, so clarity early helps both sides move efficiently.
Which visa types does CrossCountry Consulting commonly use for Project Accountant roles?
CrossCountry sponsors several visa categories for Project Accountants, including the H-1B for most nationalities, the E-3 visa for Australian citizens, and the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying accounting occupations. F-1 OPT holders can also work at CrossCountry during their OPT period, with H-1B sponsorship a potential next step. For longer-term pathways, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship are also options.
What qualifications does CrossCountry Consulting expect for Project Accountant candidates?
CrossCountry typically looks for a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B and E-3 visa petitions. Client-facing consulting or advisory experience strengthens your application significantly. A CPA credential or active candidacy is a strong differentiator, particularly for more senior Project Accountant engagements.
How do visa processing timelines affect joining CrossCountry Consulting as a Project Accountant?
If you need a new H-1B cap petition, the lottery runs in March with an October 1 start date, so plan for a roughly six-month gap between offer and your first day. E-3 and TN visas process faster, often within a few weeks through consular processing. OPT holders can start sooner and transition to H-1B sponsorship in the next cap cycle.
