Overview:
Cutter Associates is seeking a relationship-driven Research Member Sales & Services professional in Australia to grow and support Cutter’s research membership business with a focus on Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. This role combines consultative sales, strategic account management, and member success responsibilities to expand Cutter’s presence in the region while ensuring current members realize meaningful value from Cutter’s research, events, analyst access, and peer community.
The role will serve as Cutter’s primary AU contact for both prospective and existing members, representing Cutter’s research products and services to asset managers and asset owners, including Superannuation funds.
This is a highly visible role for someone who can engage credibly with C-suite and senior executives, understand the operational realities of investment management organizations, and position Cutter’s research as a strategic, long-term partner rather than a transactional product. The role will work closely with Cutter’s Head of Research, Client Success, Research Sales for North America/EMEA, Research, Consulting, and Marketing teams to deliver a seamless experience across the full member lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Research Membership Sales & Business Development
- Own and grow research membership revenue through new member acquisition, expansion opportunities, renewal support, and disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, and risk identification.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior decision-makers across prospective asset management and asset owner organizations, including COOs, Heads of Operations, CTOs, and technology, data, and functional leaders.
- Lead consultative sales conversations that connect prospective member challenges to Cutter’s independent research, events, analyst access, and peer network.
- Maintain strong knowledge of industry trends, including technology modernization, AI adoption, total portfolio approach, operating model evolution, and cost optimization.
Member Success, Retention & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members in the region, building multi-level relationships and maintaining a clear engagement strategy and service plan for each account.
- Lead tailored onboarding and connect members to relevant research, roundtables, webinars, and in-person events based on their priorities, organizational structure, and business needs.
- Conduct periodic executive business reviews and execute retention plans that demonstrate value, address evolving needs, establish clear touchpoints, and identify at-risk accounts early.
- Bring regional market feedback, client themes, and emerging needs to Cutter’s research and leadership teams to inform service improvements, product innovation, research direction, and future priorities and offerings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
- Partner with Client Success, Research Sales for North America/EMEA, Research, Consulting, and Marketing to deliver a coordinated member experience, align client needs with Cutter’s research agenda, and identify relevant consulting, expanded-service, and broader commercial opportunities.
- Track and analyze engagement data, portfolio health, renewal performance, and client satisfaction to guide proactive outreach, strengthen retention, and improve the member journey.
- Contribute to internal best practices and help reinforce Cutter’s collaborative, transparent, and client-focused culture.
Success in this role includes:
- Growing research membership in the region
- Achieving strong membership retention and a target renewal rate (>90%)
- Building trusted executive relationships across target firms
- Driving attendance and registration at Cutter events
- Expanding Cutter’s presence and reputation in the region
- Working collaboratively and transparently with others
Qualifications
Experience & Skills
- 5–7 years of experience in sales, business development, client success, relationship or account management, managed services, or a related commercial role serving financial services, investment management, or enterprise technology clients.
- Deep understanding of the buy-side investment ecosystem and asset manager and asset owner operating models, with credibility across front-, middle-, and back-office functions, including technology, operations, data, risk, compliance, reporting, and performance.
- Proven ability to sell and support intangible, trust-based offerings—including research, advisory services, subscriptions, platforms, or managed services—with disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, opportunity qualification, and proactive risk communication.
- Strong executive presence and exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging C-suite leaders, senior executives, and functional decision-makers and leading client forums, roundtables, and executive discussions.
- Strong networking skills and comfort facilitating peer connections across member organizations, coupled with sound judgment, ownership, transparency, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with CRM, marketing automation, and client engagement platforms to manage relationships, track activity, and inform decisions.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with or selling to asset managers, asset owners, public pension funds, insurance companies, or investment technology organizations.
- Familiarity with investment management systems and workflows such as accounting, trading, performance, risk, reporting, data, portfolio management, operations, and compliance.
- Knowledge of major investment management platforms or ecosystems such as Aladdin by BlackRock, State Street Alpha, SimCorp One, or region-specific tools like Rimes Matrix is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree is a plus.
Travel:
Event-driven and as needed to build and maintain relationships with prospects and members

Target consulting and advisory roles
Cutter Associates focuses on asset management consulting, so positions in research, strategy, and client advisory are most likely to attract sponsorship. Align your application to the firm's core financial services practice areas to strengthen your candidacy.
Highlight specialty occupation credentials
E-3 sponsorship requires a demonstrable link between your degree and the role. Consulting firms like Cutter Associates expect candidates to show how their specific academic background directly supports the work they'll be doing on client engagements.
Understand the E-3 timeline before you apply
E-3 visas require employer-filed Labor Condition Applications before your consular appointment. Build this lead time into your job search so Cutter Associates and you are aligned on a realistic start date when an offer is extended.
Use F-1 OPT as an entry point
Cutter Associates has sponsored F-1 OPT candidates, making it a practical first step for recent graduates. Joining under OPT gives you time to demonstrate value while the firm evaluates longer-term sponsorship options like E-3 for eligible Australians.
Search verified sponsors before applying
Not every consulting firm sponsors visas consistently. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and confirm Cutter Associates is actively filing before investing time in the application process.
Prepare for a boutique hiring process
As a specialized boutique firm, Cutter Associates likely runs a more intimate hiring process than large consultancies. Expect direct conversations with senior staff, so be ready to articulate your visa situation clearly and confidently from early-stage interviews.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cutter Associates sponsor H-1B visas?
Based on available sponsorship data, Cutter Associates has not demonstrated a pattern of H-1B visa sponsorship. Its visa activity has focused on E-3 visa and F-1 categories. Australian citizens eligible for the E-3 visa are better positioned to pursue sponsorship at this firm than candidates who require H-1B support.
Which visa types does Cutter Associates sponsor?
Cutter Associates has sponsored E-3 visas for Australian citizens and F-1 OPT and CPT visas for international students. If you hold an Australian passport, the E-3 is the most relevant pathway. F-1 candidates should confirm with the firm whether OPT extensions or transitions to longer-term sponsorship are supported.
What types of roles at Cutter Associates are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Given Cutter Associates' focus on asset management and financial services consulting, roles in research, client strategy, and advisory services are the most natural fit for sponsorship. These positions typically satisfy the specialty occupation requirement needed for E-3 eligibility, particularly for candidates with degrees in finance, economics, or a related field.
How do I find open roles at Cutter Associates that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists jobs from employers with verified sponsorship histories, including firms like Cutter Associates. You can filter by visa type to surface roles that match your eligibility, saving you the time of applying to companies that won't sponsor. This is especially useful for E-3 and F-1 candidates targeting boutique consulting firms.
How do I approach the application process at Cutter Associates as an international candidate?
Be upfront about your visa status from the first conversation. Boutique consulting firms have smaller HR teams and prefer to address sponsorship logistics early rather than discover complications late in the process. If you're eligible for E-3, frame it as low-friction for the employer since it doesn't involve a lottery and can be processed relatively quickly through consular channels.
