About The Team
The Emerging Markets team promotes growth in local economies by building meaningful partnerships with merchants across underdeveloped, high-opportunity markets. We focus on T4–T5 geographies—one of DoorDash’s highest company priorities, representing over 40% of remaining restaurant opportunities as we expand beyond core cities and suburbs. Our team creates first connections with SMB restaurants and retailers, helping them grow and monetize through on-demand delivery. This is a field sales opportunity with extensive travel within the region. You will need to live by or in proximity to a major airport.
About The Role
As a Growth Merchant Lead (GML), you will play a pivotal role in expanding DoorDash’s footprint by opening new markets and bringing new restaurant partnerships onto the platform. You will own a high-velocity, in-person sales cycle and spend the majority of your time developing Tier 4-5 (“emerging”) markets – some of DoorDash’s largest remaining areas of opportunity. This role requires extensive travel (70%+) and is ideal for someone who is energized by building new markets from the ground up and influencing market growth directly. You’ll report to a Regional Sales Manager for the region and work cross-functionally with teams across the business. You’ll join a culture that prioritizes learning, ownership, and career development, with direct access to the support and resources you need to grow to the next level. This is a field sales role with extensive travel within the region. You will spend most of your time traveling in the region meeting with merchants, with some time working remotely. In addition, this role will require the ability to travel as needed for in-person collaboration through trainings, offsites, team-building events, and other business-related necessity.
You're Excited About This Opportunity Because You Will…
- Expand DoorDash’s presence by traveling to emerging markets and developing new restaurant partnerships.
- Lead end-to-end, in-person sales cycles– prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing.
- Sell business owners on DoorDash’s value and secure revenue-share agreements.
- Consistently execute high-volume field activity and close deals within days.
- Build scalable approaches and playbooks to accelerate market expansion.
- Shape DoorDash’s expansion strategy in rural economies.
- Have an outsized impact on growth in high-priority markets.
We're Excited About You Because…
- You have 4+ years of in-person, outside B2B sales experience (field experience is required).
- You have proven success running short, high-velocity, full sales cycles – including same-day closes.
- You have strong prospecting, hunting, and negotiation skills.
- You are energized by extensive travel – spending 70%+ of your time in the field, including overnight travel inside and outside of your home state.
- You are entrepreneurial, adaptable, and motivated building and scaling new markets.
- You have demonstrated success operating autonomously and thrive in environments where you will create the playbook, not follow one.
- You are comfortable using Salesforce, Google Workspace, and sales productivity tools.
Applications for this position are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Frame your growth experience in data terms
DoorDash Growth Associate roles consistently emphasize SQL, A/B testing, and funnel analysis. Before applying, make sure your resume reflects measurable outcomes tied to experiments or campaigns, not just responsibilities. Vague scope claims get filtered out quickly at this company.
Target teams expanding into new verticals
DoorDash's growth org is structured around verticals like DashPass, Grocery, and international markets. Roles tied to expansion initiatives tend to have more active headcount than mature, steady-state teams, which improves your odds of landing a sponsorship-eligible opening.
Confirm your visa category before applying
DoorDash sponsors several nonimmigrant categories including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Knowing which category fits your citizenship and degree field before your recruiter screen means you can address sponsorship directly and accurately, without stalling the process later.
Plan around the H-1B cap and OPT bridge timing
If you are on F-1 OPT, map your OPT expiration against the April H-1B filing window. A Growth Associate role starting in Q1 may not give you enough runway for a cap-subject H-1B petition. USCIS requires petitions to be filed before October 1 for new employment to begin.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for sponsorship-confirmed openings
DoorDash posts Growth Associate roles across multiple channels, but not all listings indicate visa sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified DoorDash openings filtered by sponsorship type, so you are only spending time on roles where your visa category is supported.
Request the LCA filing timeline from your recruiter
Once you receive an offer, ask your DoorDash recruiter for the expected Labor Condition Application certification date. The DOL must certify the LCA before USCIS can receive the I-129 petition, and delays here directly affect your start date and status transition window.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Growth Associates?
Yes, DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Growth Associate roles. The process begins with your offer letter, followed by your employer filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then an I-129 petition with USCIS. For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the filing window opens in April each year for an October 1 start date. Candidates already on H-1B with a prior employer may be eligible for a cap-exempt transfer.
How do I apply for Growth Associate jobs at DoorDash?
You can apply through DoorDash's careers page or find verified sponsorship-eligible openings on Migrate Mate. Growth Associate roles at DoorDash typically require a strong application package that demonstrates analytical skills, growth experimentation experience, and comfort with ambiguous, data-driven environments. Tailoring your application to the specific vertical or team you are targeting, such as DashPass or Grocery, meaningfully improves your chances of moving past the initial screen.
Which visa types does DoorDash commonly sponsor for Growth Associate roles?
DoorDash sponsors a range of visa categories for Growth Associates, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1 visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT. The right category depends on your citizenship, degree field, and employment timeline. Australian and Canadian candidates in particular have strong options outside the H-1B lottery through the E-3 visa and TN visa categories respectively.
What qualifications does DoorDash expect for a Growth Associate role?
DoorDash Growth Associate roles generally require a bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business-related field, proficiency in SQL, and hands-on experience running or analyzing growth experiments. Familiarity with product analytics tools and a track record of working cross-functionally with engineering or product teams is a strong differentiator. Roles tied to international or new vertical expansion may also weight market strategy and competitive analysis experience more heavily.
How do I manage the timeline between a DoorDash offer and my visa filing?
Once you receive an offer, your immigration timeline depends on your current status. F-1 OPT holders need to confirm their remaining authorized period covers the gap before any new petition takes effect. For H-1B, USCIS requires the I-129 petition to be received before employment can begin on October 1. E-3 and TN holders can transfer more quickly since those categories are not subject to an annual cap or lottery.
