Align your degree to the role
AlixPartners evaluates E-3 eligibility at the role level, not the firm level. Confirm your degree field directly maps to your target practice area, a finance degree supports restructuring roles, but a general business degree may not satisfy specialty occupation requirements for technical advisory positions.
Target practice areas with open headcount
AlixPartners staffs heavily by engagement, so E-3 sponsorship is most accessible when a practice group is actively hiring. Focus your outreach on restructuring, turnaround, and performance improvement teams, where project-based demand creates more consistent hiring windows throughout the year.
Verify your prevailing wage before offers
Before accepting an offer, run your job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search to confirm the offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage requirement. AlixPartners operates across multiple U.S. cities, and wage levels vary significantly by metro area.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm your LCA filing status
Once AlixPartners files your Labor Condition Application with DOL, you can track certification through Migrate Mate, which surfaces LCA data by employer and role so you know exactly where your E-3 process stands before your consulate appointment.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation early
Gather your Australian degree transcripts, credential evaluations, and any professional certifications before you reach the offer stage. Consulting firms move quickly once an offer is made, and delays in producing degree equivalency documentation can push back your consulate appointment.
Expect consular processing, not status change
E-3 visas are processed at U.S. consulates in Australia, not through USCIS. AlixPartners cannot file a change-of-status petition on your behalf if you're already in the U.S. on another visa type, so build your timeline around a consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth.
AlixPartners E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does AlixPartners sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, AlixPartners sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian nationals in qualifying professional roles. Sponsorship is most common in consulting and advisory positions that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. E-3 eligibility is evaluated on a role-by-role basis, so confirm your target position qualifies as a specialty occupation before applying.
Which roles at AlixPartners typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at AlixPartners is most common in restructuring, financial advisory, performance improvement, and data analytics roles. These positions typically require degrees in finance, economics, accounting, engineering, or a closely related quantitative field. Roles classified as specialty occupations under USCIS standards are the strongest candidates for E-3 filing.
How do I start the E-3 application process at AlixPartners?
Once AlixPartners extends an offer, their HR or immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160 form and schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Australia. You can use Migrate Mate to monitor your LCA status and prepare your consulate appointment documents in parallel.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at AlixPartners?
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days of submission. From there, consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth determines your overall timeline. Most applicants can complete the process within four to eight weeks of receiving a certified LCA, though peak periods and administrative processing can extend that window.
How do I demonstrate specialty occupation eligibility for a consulting role at AlixPartners?
You need to show your degree field directly corresponds to the duties of the specific consulting role, not just that you hold a bachelor's degree. Use O*NET to review the typical education requirements for your job title, and have your Australian degree credential evaluated by a NACES-approved service if needed to confirm U.S. equivalency.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at AlixPartners?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
