Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Cleveland Clinic evaluates E-3 candidates against specialty occupation criteria, meaning your degree must directly relate to the clinical or research role. Pull the relevant O*NET occupation profile for your target position and confirm your qualifications map to its listed education requirements before applying.
Target departments with consistent international hiring
Clinical research, cardiovascular medicine, and nursing subspecialties at Cleveland Clinic have historically drawn internationally trained professionals. Focusing your search on these departments increases the likelihood your role already has an established E-3 sponsorship pathway within the organization's HR infrastructure.
Request LCA filing confirmation before accepting an offer
Before signing an offer letter, ask the recruiter whether the Labor Condition Application has been filed with DOL. At large healthcare systems, LCA processing is often handled centrally, and delays here can push your start date by weeks if not flagged early in the process.
Verify your prevailing wage tier using OFLC Wage Search
Cleveland Clinic's offer salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Run the OFLC Wage Search using your specific job title and SOC code for the Cleveland, Ohio metropolitan area to confirm your offer aligns with Level I through Level IV wage tiers before negotiating.
Use Migrate Mate to track Cleveland Clinic's E-3 filing history
Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer and role, so you can see which job titles Cleveland Clinic has sponsored under the E-3 program. Use this to prioritize roles with an established filing history and approach your job search with verified sponsorship intelligence rather than assumptions.
Prepare your DS-160 and supporting documents before your interview date
Once your employer's LCA is certified, consulate interview wait times at Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth can move quickly. Having your DS-160 completed, your certified LCA copy in hand, and your employment offer letter formatted to USCIS standards ensures you're not creating delays on the applicant side.
Cleveland Clinic E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cleveland Clinic Foundation sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Cleveland Clinic Foundation sponsors E-3 visas for qualified Australian nationals in eligible specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most consistent in clinical, research, and specialist medical positions. The process involves the employer filing a Labor Condition Application with DOL before you apply at a U.S. consulate in Australia. Roles must meet USCIS specialty occupation standards.
Which roles at Cleveland Clinic Foundation typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Cleveland Clinic is most common in roles requiring a specific professional degree, such as physicians, clinical researchers, registered nurses in subspecialty units, and allied health specialists. General administrative or operational roles are less likely to qualify under the specialty occupation definition that USCIS applies to E-3 petitions.
How do I navigate the E-3 application process at Cleveland Clinic Foundation?
After receiving a conditional offer, Cleveland Clinic's immigration or HR team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Once certified, you complete the DS-160 and attend a consular interview in Australia. Migrate Mate can manage the LCA and filing paperwork on your behalf, helping ensure documentation meets USCIS requirements throughout. The employer does not file a petition directly with USCIS for E-3.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Cleveland Clinic Foundation?
DOL typically certifies a Labor Condition Application within seven business days. After LCA certification, your timeline depends on consular appointment availability in Australia, which can range from a few weeks to several months depending on the consulate and season. Building in at least six to eight weeks between offer acceptance and your intended U.S. start date is practical planning.
What should I prepare before applying for an E-3 role at Cleveland Clinic Foundation?
Confirm your Australian degree and any professional licensure align with the specialty occupation requirements for your target role. Gather your academic transcripts, credential evaluation if applicable, and any relevant U.S. or state professional licenses. For nursing roles, confirm NCLEX passage and state board registration. Having these ready before your offer stage prevents delays once Cleveland Clinic initiates the LCA process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
