Target Ericsson's 5G and network teams
Ericsson's U.S. hiring concentrates in 5G infrastructure, radio access network engineering, and cloud-native software development. Roles requiring a telecommunications or computer science degree align most cleanly with the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to E-3 petitions.
Verify your degree maps to the role
Ericsson's technical roles often require a directly related bachelor's degree, not just any STEM credential. Use O*NET to confirm the Standard Occupational Classification code for your target role matches your field of study before applying.
Confirm prevailing wage before negotiating
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for the role's location and occupation level. Run the OFLC Wage Search for the specific SOC code and Ericsson office city so you're not caught short during the LCA certification stage.
Ask about LCA timing in early conversations
Ericsson's recruiting teams work with in-house immigration counsel, but LCA certification through DOL typically takes around seven business days. Clarify with your recruiter whether the offer letter or LCA filing comes first, so you can set accurate start-date expectations.
Use Migrate Mate to file your E-3 application
Once Ericsson certifies the LCA, you handle the consulate application yourself. Migrate Mate prepares your E-3 filing documents, coordinates with you on the DS-160, and assigns a dedicated expert to keep your application on track through the visa stamp stage.
Prepare for specialty occupation scrutiny at interview
Consular officers at Australian posts regularly probe whether the role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Bring your LCA, a detailed offer letter specifying the position's degree requirement, and any Ericsson job description language that ties the role to your credential.
Ericsson E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ericsson sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Ericsson sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. The company's U.S. immigration program covers the LCA filing and supports employees through the process, though the consular visa application itself remains the applicant's responsibility.
Which roles at Ericsson are most likely to receive E-3 sponsorship?
Ericsson most commonly sponsors E-3 visas for roles in software engineering, network architecture, systems engineering, and telecommunications. Positions tied to 5G deployment, radio access networks, and cloud platforms are strong candidates, provided the role requires a directly related bachelor's degree under the USCIS specialty occupation standard.
How does the E-3 application process work at Ericsson?
Ericsson's immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL on your behalf. Once the LCA is certified, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and attend a visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Australia. Ericsson provides the certified LCA and a support letter for your interview.
How long does the E-3 process take at Ericsson?
LCA certification through DOL typically takes around seven business days. Consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth then determines the remaining timeline. Total time from offer acceptance to visa stamp commonly runs three to six weeks, depending on consulate workloads at the time you apply.
How do I find and apply for E-3 jobs at Ericsson?
Search Ericsson's careers page filtering for U.S.-based technical roles in your specialty. Migrate Mate's job board surfaces Ericsson openings filtered for E-3 sponsorship history, so you can focus applications on positions where E-3 support is established rather than starting the conversation from scratch.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Ericsson?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
