Align your degree to the role
E-3 requires your bachelor's degree to directly relate to the job. At Fenwick West, legal roles typically require a law degree or equivalent. If your Australian degree title differs from U.S. norms, get a credential evaluation before applying to avoid RFE delays.
Target practice groups hiring laterals
Fenwick West's technology transactions, venture capital, and securities practices regularly hire lateral attorneys and legal professionals. Focus your applications on these groups, where Australian candidates with international deal experience are most competitive and sponsorship conversations happen more naturally.
Request LCA confirmation before accepting an offer
Before signing an offer, confirm Fenwick West has filed or will file a Labor Condition Application with DOL. The LCA must be certified before your visa appointment. Asking this question early signals you understand the process and prevents last-minute scheduling conflicts at the consulate.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your role and office location. Use OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your job title and city before negotiating. Arriving underprepared on compensation can stall the LCA filing and your start date.
Search Fenwick West's E-3 filing history on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer, so you can see which roles Fenwick West has sponsored E-3 visas for and in which office locations. Use this before your interview to ask informed questions about the firm's sponsorship track record.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation early
USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation determinations for law firm business roles that aren't attorney positions. Gather transcripts, a detailed job description, and any professional memberships before your consulate appointment so your file demonstrates the degree-to-role connection clearly and completely.
Fenwick & West E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fenwick West sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Fenwick West sponsors E-3 visas for qualifying Australian professionals. The firm operates a structured immigration program and works with dedicated immigration counsel to support E-3 filings for attorneys and eligible business professionals. Sponsorship is typically tied to specific roles and practice groups rather than being available firm-wide.
Which roles and departments at Fenwick West typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Fenwick West is most common in attorney roles across practice groups like technology transactions, venture capital, and securities. Legal operations and paralegal positions may also qualify if the role requires a directly related bachelor's degree. General administrative roles are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires for E-3 approval.
How do I navigate the E-3 application process at Fenwick West?
Once Fenwick West extends an offer, their immigration team or outside counsel files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160 and attend a consulate interview in Australia. You don't need to file a petition with USCIS for consular processing, which makes the E-3 faster than many other work visa categories.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at a law firm like Fenwick West?
LCA certification typically takes around seven business days with DOL. Consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth then determines the overall timeline, which can range from two to eight weeks depending on demand. Starting the LCA process promptly after your offer is signed gives you the most scheduling flexibility at the consulate.
How do I find and apply for E-3 jobs at Fenwick West?
Migrate Mate lists open roles at law firms with verified E-3 sponsorship history, including Fenwick West, so you can filter for positions that match your practice area and experience level. When you apply, tailor your materials to the specific practice group and be prepared to discuss your visa status and timeline early in the recruiting process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Fenwick West?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
