Frame your degree as specialty occupation evidence
Consulting firms evaluate E-3 eligibility against the specialty occupation standard, so your degree field needs a direct connection to the role. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your target position and verify the degree requirement listed before you apply to Huron.
Target project-based and analytical roles first
Huron's E-3 sponsorship activity clusters around analytical and advisory roles rather than administrative or generalist positions. Search for titles tied to specific practice areas like healthcare, education, or financial advisory, where degree-to-role alignment is easiest to demonstrate to USCIS.
Confirm LCA filing before accepting any offer
Before you sign, ask Huron's HR team which stage the Labor Condition Application is at. The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consular appointment, and delays here directly push back your start date, especially if you're scheduling in Sydney or Melbourne during peak periods.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC prevailing wages
Run your expected job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer negotiation. Huron must pay at least the prevailing wage for your role and work location, so knowing the floor in advance helps you evaluate whether an offer meets the legal threshold.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Huron's LCA filing history
Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer, so you can see which practice areas and job titles Huron has filed for under the E-3 program. Use that data to prioritize roles where sponsorship precedent already exists before you apply.
Prepare for consular questions about your role's degree requirement
Consular officers at Australian posts regularly ask how your specific degree relates to the offered position. Bring a one-page summary from your employer explaining the connection between your credentials and the consulting engagement you'll be supporting, not just a generic job description.
Huron Consulting Group E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Huron Consulting Services sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Huron Consulting Services sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying professional roles. Sponsorship is concentrated in consulting and advisory positions where the role meets the specialty occupation standard, meaning it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. You'll need a confirmed job offer before the process can begin.
Which roles at Huron Consulting Services are most likely to receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Huron tends to align with analytical and advisory roles across practice areas such as healthcare consulting, higher education advisory, and financial services. Positions with clear degree-to-role alignment, such as analyst, associate, or consultant titles tied to a specific practice, are stronger candidates for sponsorship than generalist or support roles.
How do I navigate the E-3 application process at Huron Consulting Services?
Once Huron extends a conditional offer, their HR or immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and schedule your consular interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate in Australia. Huron typically coordinates with an immigration attorney to prepare your supporting documentation. You can use Migrate Mate to track LCA filing history and understand what documentation pattern Huron has used for similar roles.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Huron Consulting Services?
The DOL LCA certification step typically takes around seven business days once submitted. After that, your consular appointment timeline depends on availability at your chosen post. Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth can vary significantly, particularly during peak application periods. From signed offer to visa in hand, most straightforward cases take four to eight weeks, assuming no administrative processing is triggered at the consulate.
How do I improve my chances of getting E-3 sponsorship at Huron Consulting Services?
Align your application to a role where your degree field directly maps to the consulting work, since USCIS scrutinizes the degree-to-role connection for specialty occupation determinations. Research which practice areas Huron has previously filed E-3 LCAs for, as roles with prior sponsorship history face fewer internal approval hurdles. Demonstrate in your interview that your Australian credentials meet U.S. equivalency standards, and be prepared to discuss your post-graduation plans if the consular officer raises nonimmigrant intent.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Huron Consulting Services?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
