Map your degree to a specialty occupation
NextEra hires across engineering, project development, and analytical roles. Use O*NET to confirm your occupation's degree requirements before applying, so you can demonstrate the specialty occupation tie clearly in your application materials.
Target roles in renewable energy development
NextEra's core business spans wind, solar, and battery storage projects. Focus your search on roles tied to project engineering, grid analysis, or energy resource planning, where the specialty occupation requirement is most straightforward to document.
Request LCA filing before your start date
Your employer must file and receive a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Confirm with NextEra's HR or immigration team that the LCA timeline fits your target start date, especially around annual project cycles.
Verify your prevailing wage before negotiating
The LCA locks in a wage commitment tied to your role and location. Look up the applicable wage level using the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation, so your salary expectation aligns with what NextEra can legally certify.
Use Migrate Mate to prepare your filing package
Once you have a signed offer and a certified LCA, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service helps you prepare the DS-160, gather supporting documents, and organize the consular package, reducing back-and-forth with NextEra's HR team.
Clarify E-3 renewal responsibility before signing
E-3 visas require renewal every two years, and each renewal depends on continued employer support. Before accepting an offer, confirm whether NextEra handles renewal filings in-house or expects you to coordinate through outside counsel.
NextEra Energy Resources E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does NextEra Energy Resources sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, NextEra Energy Resources sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most common in technical and analytical positions across energy development, engineering, and project management. You'll need a job offer and a role that meets the specialty occupation definition before the company can initiate the LCA filing process.
Which roles at NextEra Energy Resources typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at NextEra tends to align with roles requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher, particularly in electrical or mechanical engineering, energy resource analysis, project development, and finance. Generalist or operations roles without a direct degree requirement are less likely to qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 criteria.
How do I start the E-3 application process at NextEra Energy Resources?
After receiving a written offer, NextEra's HR or legal team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Once certified, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and schedule a consular interview in Australia. Migrate Mate can help you organize the full consular package so nothing is missing on interview day.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at NextEra Energy Resources?
The LCA certification typically takes around seven business days once submitted to DOL. After that, consular interview wait times in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth vary by season. Most candidates complete the full process within four to eight weeks of receiving a certified LCA, though you should confirm current appointment availability directly with the consulate.
What should I know about E-3 renewals at NextEra Energy Resources?
E-3 status is granted in two-year increments with no cap on renewals, so long as you remain in the same qualifying role and your employer files a new LCA each cycle. Confirm with NextEra's immigration contact whether renewals are handled through an internal team or external counsel, and build that timeline into your career planning at the company.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at NextEra Energy Resources?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
