Align your degree to the role
E-3 requires a direct field match between your degree and the position. At Weil Gotshal, associate roles typically require a law degree, but business services roles in finance or technology need a degree specifically tied to that function, not a general bachelor's.
Research Weil's LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Weil Gotshal's Labor Condition Application history by role type. This shows which departments have filed E-3 LCAs before, so you target teams with an established sponsorship track record rather than pitching a new process.
Address the LCA prevailing wage early
Weil Gotshal must certify your offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage before your visa interview. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your target role and city before negotiating an offer, so you enter salary conversations knowing the minimum USCIS will accept.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation
For business services roles at a law firm, consular officers sometimes scrutinize the specialty occupation requirement closely. Pull your O*NET occupation profile for your target role and compile evidence that the position requires a degree in your specific field, not just any bachelor's degree.
Confirm the LCA is certified before your interview
Your consular interview cannot proceed without a certified LCA. Coordinate with Weil Gotshal's HR or legal team to confirm DOL has returned the certified LCA before you book your appointment, since certification typically takes seven business days but can extend during peak periods.
Contact recruiting before applying blindly
Big Law firms like Weil Gotshal route E-3 sponsorship decisions through their legal talent or attorney hiring teams, not general HR. Reaching out directly to the relevant recruiting contact before submitting your application confirms sponsorship willingness and avoids wasted effort on roles excluded from their process.
Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Weil Gotshal & Manges sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Weil Gotshal & Manges sponsors E-3 visas for qualifying roles at its U.S. offices. Sponsorship is most common for legal professionals and certain business services positions where the role meets the specialty occupation requirement. You'll need a job offer and a degree that directly aligns with the position before the firm can initiate the LCA filing.
Which roles at Weil Gotshal typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
Associate attorney positions are the most common E-3-sponsored roles at Weil Gotshal, given the clear specialty occupation basis of legal work. Business services roles in areas like finance, technology, and knowledge management can also qualify, provided the position requires a degree in a specific related field rather than a general qualification.
How do I navigate the E-3 application process at Weil Gotshal?
Once you have a written offer, Weil Gotshal's legal or HR team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and attend a consular interview in Australia. The firm typically coordinates the LCA, but you manage your own appointment booking and interview preparation.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at a firm like Weil Gotshal?
The LCA certification step takes around seven business days once submitted to DOL. After that, consular appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth drives the overall timeline, which can range from a few weeks to several months depending on demand. Build at least six to eight weeks of lead time into your start date planning.
How do I find open E-3 roles at Weil Gotshal?
Migrate Mate lists verified E-3 sponsorship roles and surfaces employer LCA filing history, which helps you confirm Weil Gotshal's sponsorship activity before applying. You can also monitor Weil Gotshal's careers page directly and contact their legal recruiting or attorney talent teams to ask about E-3 eligibility for specific open positions.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Weil Gotshal Manges?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
