Software Engineering Intern – Eventual (San Francisco, CA)
About Eventual
Eventual enables developers to build the AI systems of the future by making multi-modal data and models work together seamlessly. Every breakthrough AI application—from foundation models to autonomous vehicles—relies on processing massive volumes of images, video, and complex data. But today’s data platforms (like Databricks and Snowflake) were built for spreadsheet-like analytics, not the petabytes of multimodal data that power AI. Eventual was founded in 2022 to change that. Our mission is to make working with any kind of data—images, video, audio, text—as intuitive as working with tables, and powerful enough to scale to production workloads. Our open-source engine, Daft, is purpose-built for real-world AI systems: coordinating with external APIs, managing GPU clusters, and handling failures that traditional engines can’t. Daft already powers critical workloads at companies like Amazon, Mobileye, Together AI, and CloudKitchens. Backed by Y Combinator, Caffeinated Capital, Array.vc, and top angels from the co-founders of Databricks and Perplexity, we’re just getting started—and we’d love for you to be part of it. Please note: This internship is based in our San Francisco office (Mission District). We value in-person collaboration and ask interns to be in the office at least 4 days a week.
Your Role
As a Software Engineering Intern, you’ll work alongside our engineers to contribute to Eventual’s core products and open-source engine. You’ll gain hands-on experience building distributed data systems and products, while learning how to design, implement, and test features that support real-world AI and ML workloads. You’ll get mentorship from our team (ex-Databricks, AWS, Nvidia, Tesla, GitHub Copilot, Pinecone) and the opportunity to make meaningful contributions that reach production.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to building features in Eventual’s distributed query engine.
- Work on developing Eventual’s cloud service.
- Write clean, maintainable code with guidance from senior engineers.
- Collaborate with the team to design and implement solutions for real-world data challenges.
- Assist with testing, debugging, and documenting core system components.
What We Look For
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science (or related field).
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or Rust.
- Interest in distributed systems, databases, or data infrastructure.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
- Excitement to learn from a fast-paced startup environment and contribute to real-world systems.

Job Roles at Eventual Companies
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Eventual Visa Sponsorship USA
Target technical roles first
Eventual's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technology and software positions. Focus your application on engineering, development, or technical roles where visa sponsorship is most likely to align with their established hiring patterns.
Lead with your H-1B eligibility
H-1B is the primary visa Eventual sponsors. Make your eligibility clear early in your application and cover letter, stating your visa status and sponsorship needs upfront removes ambiguity and saves time for both you and the hiring team.
Research their active technology stack
Eventual hires in a competitive software and technology space. Tailoring your resume and portfolio to reflect the specific technical skills they value increases your chances of clearing the initial screen before sponsorship even becomes a conversation.
Filter for verified sponsors before applying broadly
Not every job listing at a tech company comes with sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus on openings at Eventual where support is confirmed rather than assumed.
Ask about sponsorship timing during early conversations
Eventual has a smaller sponsorship footprint than enterprise tech firms, so understanding their internal process and timeline early matters. Raise the topic respectfully in a recruiter screen rather than waiting until an offer is on the table.

Does Eventual sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Eventual sponsors H-1B visas. H-1B is the primary visa type they have supported for international employees in the Technology & Software sector. If you are in a specialty occupation role such as software engineering or technical development, Eventual is a legitimate sponsorship option, though it is worth confirming current availability directly with their recruiting team during the hiring process.
Which visa types does Eventual sponsor?
Eventual sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas. This range means the company can support candidates at multiple stages of their immigration journey, from students completing practical training to professionals transitioning to long-term work status. H-1B is their most established sponsorship pathway for full-time employment.
What types of roles at Eventual are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Given Eventual's Technology & Software focus, sponsorship is most commonly associated with technical positions such as software engineering, product development, and related specialty occupation roles. These are the job categories where the company's sponsorship history is strongest and where a degree requirement clearly supports the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
How do I find open roles at Eventual that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable way is to use Migrate Mate, which verifies sponsorship history and lets you filter jobs by confirmed sponsor activity. This means you can browse Eventual's open positions knowing their sponsorship record is real, rather than relying on unverified claims in a job listing. Always confirm sponsorship intent directly with the recruiter once you enter the interview process.
How do I approach the application process at Eventual as a visa-dependent candidate?
Start by targeting roles that map closely to your technical background, since Eventual's sponsorship is concentrated in software and technology functions. Be transparent about your visa status from the first recruiter conversation. Because Eventual sponsors at a more selective volume than large enterprise employers, moving quickly once you receive interest and having your documentation organized in advance will work in your favor.
