Credential Your Degree Through Approved Evaluation Services
Healthcare employers like Family Health Centers of San Diego require foreign academic credentials to be evaluated by a NACES-approved service before extending an offer. Submit transcripts early, as evaluations for clinical degrees can take several weeks.
Obtain Your State License Before Applying
California requires active licensure for most clinical roles before employment begins. Start the California Medical Board or BRN process as soon as your credentials are evaluated, since licensing timelines can delay your start date and your visa petition.
Target Roles Tied to Medically Underserved Areas
Family Health Centers of San Diego operates Federally Qualified Health Center sites serving underserved communities. Roles at FQHC facilities can support National Interest Waiver or PERM-based Green Card pathways, which removes the need for a competing job order.
Clarify TN Eligibility for Your Specific Role
Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations, such as physicians or physical therapists, can use TN status without waiting for H-1B lottery selection. Confirm your job title maps to a USCIS-recognized TN category before submitting your application.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Roles by Visa Type
Not every open position at Family Health Centers of San Diego is tied to the same sponsorship pathway. Use Migrate Mate to browse current healthcare openings filtered by the visa types the organization sponsors, so you apply only to roles aligned with your status.
Confirm Employer Timing Before Accepting an OPT Offer
If you're on F-1 OPT, your employer must enroll in E-Verify before your first day of work. Ask the HR team to confirm E-Verify enrollment during the offer stage, not after, so there's no gap in your authorization during onboarding.

Find Healthcare at Family Health Centers of San Diego JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Family Health Centers of San Diego sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, Family Health Centers of San Diego has sponsored H-1B visas for healthcare roles. Clinical positions that require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, such as those in behavioral health, nutrition, or health administration, commonly qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are subject to an annual lottery, timing your job search to align with the April filing window matters.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at Family Health Centers of San Diego?
You can browse current openings through Migrate Mate, which lists healthcare positions at Family Health Centers of San Diego filtered by visa sponsorship type. Before applying, make sure your California professional license is active or in progress, your credentials have been evaluated, and your resume reflects clinical experience relevant to community or federally qualified health center settings.
Which visa types are commonly used for Healthcare roles at Family Health Centers of San Diego?
Family Health Centers of San Diego has sponsored candidates through H-1B, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas. Clinical roles with a defined degree requirement typically align with H-1B or EB-3, while physicians or candidates with advanced degrees may qualify for EB-2. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in specific healthcare occupations recognized by USCIS.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Healthcare roles at Family Health Centers of San Diego?
Most clinical roles require active California licensure in your discipline, whether that's nursing, social work, behavioral health, or medicine. Community health experience is valued given the FQHC model, which serves low-income and uninsured populations. Bilingual ability, particularly in Spanish, is frequently listed as preferred. For sponsorship-eligible roles, your degree must directly relate to the job function to satisfy specialty occupation standards.
How do I time the visa filing process when pursuing a Healthcare role at Family Health Centers of San Diego?
If you're pursuing an H-1B, your employer must file the petition during the April filing window for an October start date, so you need an offer well before then. For OPT candidates, confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment before your first day. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, the DOL labor certification process typically takes 12 to 18 months before an immigrant petition can be filed.
