About Finch
We believe every American household deserves access to counsel in life’s biggest moments. At Finch, we’re building the infrastructure to make justice radically more accessible. Our modern approach to consumer law automates the admin work and puts clients first, starting with personal injury.
In just over a year, we've grown 10x, raised a $20M Series A, and become the pre-litigation partner of choice for top personal injury firms across the country. We believe the best outcomes happen when expert operators and purpose-built AI work together – which is why we handle every step of pre-lit, from intake and claim opening to medical records, lien management, and demands, with humans leading every case.
We’re backed by Sequoia, Redpoint, and the founders & CEOs of generational companies like DoorDash, Ironclad, and Digits. We’re rebuilding how the law serves everyday Americans from first principles, and we’re hiring exceptional operators to help us scale it nationwide.
This Role: Case Manager, Liability, Evidence & Claims
We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Pre-Litigation Specialist to support case management from intake through settlement preparation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience gathering and organizing liability evidence, conducting fault analysis, and managing ongoing communication with insurance carriers and government agencies.
This role also requires experience handling the full evidence and records collection process, including drafting and submitting FOIA and public records requests, obtaining police reports and supplemental narratives, securing dash cam/body cam footage and 911 audio, tracking outstanding records across jurisdictions, and ensuring accurate documentation throughout the lifecycle of the claim.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and energized by working in a fast-paced startup environment where processes are evolving and ownership is expected.
What You'll Do:
- Open insurance claims with all relevant carriers (liability, UM/UIM, med pay), send letters of representation, obtain claim numbers and adjuster assignments, and manage ongoing carrier communication including acknowledgment follow-up
- Draft and submit FOIA and public records requests to police departments, state agencies, and municipal offices; track request status, escalate non-responsive agencies, and ensure timely receipt of police reports, supplemental narratives, dash/body cam footage, and 911 recordings
- Request and track medical records, witness statements, scene photographs, and other essential evidence; implement systematic follow-up protocols to ensure timely receipt and flag non-responsive parties for escalation
- Conduct liability analysis from police reports, witness statements, and scene evidence; assess fault allocation, comparative negligence exposure, and evidentiary gaps; prepare comprehensive case packages for lead paralegals to draft settlement demands
- Analyze workflow inefficiencies in evidence collection and case setup processes, identify automation opportunities, and implement process improvements to reduce cycle time from intake to demand-ready status
You Might Be a Fit if You:
- Have experience in personal injury pre-litigation previously
- Have experience drafting and managing FOIA / public records requests and obtaining police reports across multiple jurisdictions
- Have experience opening claims, creating all coverage-related documentation, and managing relationships with insurance providers
- Have experience conducting liability analysis and organizing evidence (police reports, photos, video, witness statements) into case-ready packages
- Attention to detail and excitement for a fast-paced startup environment
Compensation
- $60,000 – $85,000 annual salary + equity
Additional benefits include:
- 100% coverage for health, dental, and vision
- 401(k) retirement plan
- In-office snacks, drinks, and daily team lunch and dinners
- Flexible PTO (we trust you to take the time you need)

Target roles that sit at the law-technology crossroads
Finch Legal's positioning in the Technology and Software space means roles combining legal expertise with technical skills are your strongest bet for sponsorship consideration. Focus your application on positions where both competencies are clearly required.
Understand that H-1B is the primary sponsorship pathway here
Finch Legal sponsors through the H-1B program, so confirm your eligibility and lottery timeline before applying. If you're on OPT or STEM OPT, factor cap-subject filing deadlines into your outreach and interview scheduling.
Lead with your specialty occupation credentials
H-1B approval hinges on demonstrating a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Applicants targeting Finch Legal should clearly align their degree and experience to the technical or legal role description.
Reach out proactively, smaller legal-tech firms move on specific candidates
Finch Legal is a focused employer, not a high-volume hiring machine. Decision-makers are often accessible. A well-researched outreach message referencing your skills and visa situation can move faster than a standard application queue.
Filter for verified sponsors before you apply
Not every legal-tech employer openly advertises sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time and helping you focus on employers like Finch Legal who have an actual track record.
Prepare for a thorough vetting process typical of legal-sector employers
Legal-adjacent firms apply rigorous hiring standards even for technical roles. Expect detailed interviews covering both domain knowledge and professional background. Demonstrating you understand the compliance expectations of a legal environment will strengthen your candidacy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Finch Legal sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Finch Legal sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in the Technology and Software space. The H-1B is the primary visa type Finch Legal uses to hire foreign nationals. If you're pursuing sponsorship here, confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation and that your degree aligns with the position before applying.
What types of roles at Finch Legal are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Finch Legal tends to follow roles that require specialized technical or legal-technical knowledge, positions where a specific degree field is genuinely required, not just preferred. Candidates in software, legal technology, or compliance-adjacent technical functions are best positioned. Generalist or administrative roles are unlikely to qualify for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I find open visa-sponsored positions at Finch Legal?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find sponsored openings at companies like Finch Legal. It filters job listings by verified sponsorship history so you're not guessing which employers will actually file. Search by company name or filter by visa type to surface relevant roles and confirm Finch Legal's current hiring activity.
How do I time my application at Finch Legal around the H-1B cap?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, which means you'd ideally secure an offer and complete the LCA process before late March. If you're on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT, factor your authorization expiration into the timeline. Starting conversations with Finch Legal in the fall or winter before the cap season gives you the best buffer.
What should I emphasize in my application to Finch Legal as a visa sponsorship candidate?
Focus on demonstrating that your role qualifies as a specialty occupation, that means showing the position requires a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree. For a legal-tech employer like Finch Legal, highlight where your technical skills intersect with legal or compliance contexts. Be upfront about your visa status early in the process so there are no surprises around timing or sponsorship costs.
