Your Impact:
Our 3D printers are full of analog and digital electronics, sensors, displays, and motion systems. They are connected devices driven by complex embedded Firmware. The designs need to be produced in high volumes, have bulletproof electronics, and the right balance of performance and cost. Our electrical engineers work on the entire life cycle of the products they create - from the first whiteboard sketch to the final ECO for their completed assemblies. We work quickly to prototype, test, and iterate, while collaborating closely with dozens of other engineers, spanning multiple disciplines across the company.
If you're looking to lead and develop a rapidly growing team of talented electrical engineers as we create next-generation digital fabrication technology, then we want you as our Manager of Electrical Engineering.
What You'll Do:
- Spend most of your time being an active contributor in product development
- Help the team navigate design tradeoffs and ship the industry's best products
- Constantly question product assumptions and help scope electrical engineering work to a finely focused edge, where only the work that is critical to customer success is pursued
- Drive the team to hit program milestones, provide input to program schedules, actively work with cross functional leaders to develop products more efficiently
- Hire the best engineers and then help them reach their highest potential
- Continuously improve the results and outputs of the electrical engineering function
- Influence product strategy
- Influence how Hardware Engineering functions holistically
About You:
- Want to build the best team in the 3D printing industry
- Know how to help engineers reach their highest potential
- An expert in the design and production of complex electrical systems
- Working knowledge of embedded systems and code
- Have shipped multiple products, taking them from concept thru production
- Able to communicate fluidly across technical domains
- Crave ownership and responsibility, comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
- Ready to dive into unfamiliar territory and problem-solve like crazy
- Have an entrepreneurial mindset and know how to tie technical work to customer value
- Are impatient with inertia and know how to block and tackle for your team
- Never satisfied with the status quo
- Will do whatever it takes to get the job done
Our Benefits & Perks:
- Robust equity program to build future wealth through RSUs
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision)

Align your portfolio with Formlabs hardware
Formlabs hires across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering disciplines for physical product development. Tailor your portfolio to show hands-on experience with electromechanical systems, embedded hardware, or manufacturing processes rather than purely software work.
Target roles tied to production pipelines
Engineering roles closest to Formlabs core product lines, such as print engine development or materials science, tend to have stronger sponsorship precedent. Job descriptions that specify manufacturing or hardware experience signal the specialty occupation footing your H-1B petition needs.
Verify your degree field matches the job
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the offered position for H-1B specialty occupation approval. If your degree is adjacent, such as physics or applied mathematics, document how your coursework maps to the engineering role before applying.
Ask about sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Before signing, confirm whether the offer covers both H-1B filing and PERM-based Green Card sponsorship. Some employers sponsor the initial visa but delay or decline permanent residency support, which directly affects your long-term authorization planning.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Engineering roles
Browsing Formlabs Engineering openings that are tagged for visa sponsorship saves you time filtering unsponsored listings. Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Formlabs roles that align with H-1B and Green Card sponsorship history.

Find Engineering at Formlabs JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Formlabs sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Formlabs has a consistent record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Engineering roles across hardware, software, and manufacturing disciplines. The company files petitions through the standard USCIS cap-subject process, which means timing your application around the annual lottery and the October 1 fiscal year start date is essential to your planning.
Which visa types does Formlabs commonly sponsor for Engineering roles?
Formlabs sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based immigrant visas, primarily EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories, for Engineering positions. H-1B covers your initial authorized employment period, while EB-2 and EB-3 provide the pathway to permanent residency through PERM labor certification filed with the DOL.
What qualifications does Formlabs expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Most Engineering roles at Formlabs require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering or applied science field. For USCIS specialty occupation purposes, your degree should directly relate to the job duties. Roles involving hardware development, manufacturing systems, or embedded software typically benefit from demonstrated hands-on product experience alongside formal credentials.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Formlabs?
You can browse and apply for Formlabs Engineering openings that support visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by sponsorship type so you're not wasting time on listings that don't fit your immigration needs. Once you identify a role, apply directly through Formlabs careers portal and indicate your visa status early in the process so the recruiting team can align timelines.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at Formlabs?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration in March each year, with approved petitions carrying an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer from Formlabs, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting the H-1B petition. Align your offer negotiation and notice period at your current employer to account for this window.
