Frame your portfolio around cloud architecture outcomes
Google's Solutions Architect interviews prioritize demonstrated experience with distributed systems, cloud migrations, and measurable business impact. Document specific projects where you designed scalable infrastructure, not just supported it, before you apply.
Target Google's enterprise and public sector teams
Solutions Architect openings at Google cluster around Google Cloud's enterprise and public sector verticals. Roles tied to strategic accounts have longer hiring cycles but are more likely to include built-in sponsorship support from the outset.
Time your H-1B application around the annual lottery window
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March, with an October 1 start date for approved petitions. If you're relying on the H-1B cap, coordinate your offer timeline so your start date aligns with this cycle to avoid gaps in work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Solutions Architect roles at Google
Sponsorship-eligible openings aren't always labeled clearly on general job boards. Browse Solutions Architect positions at Google filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate so you're only pursuing roles where your authorization needs are already accounted for.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation in advance
Google's specialty occupation filings require your role to map to a specific degree field. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before your employer begins the Labor Condition Application with DOL.

Find Solutions Architect at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Solutions Architects?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Solutions Architect roles. Solutions Architecture qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines, typically requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field. Google's immigration team handles the petition process, but sponsorship is subject to the annual H-1B cap and lottery unless you qualify for a cap-exempt filing.
Which visa types does Google sponsor for Solutions Architect roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Solutions Architect positions. H-1B is the most common path and is available to nationals of most countries. H-1B1 is available exclusively to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, while E-3 is reserved for Australian citizens. Each visa has different filing procedures, caps, and renewal rules, so your nationality determines which pathway applies.
How do I apply for Solutions Architect jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal, where Solutions Architect openings are listed under Google Cloud. The process typically involves a recruiter screen, a technical assessment focused on cloud architecture and system design, and multiple rounds of interviews covering both technical depth and customer-facing scenarios. Migrate Mate lists sponsorship-eligible Solutions Architect openings at Google so you can filter specifically for roles that match your visa needs.
What qualifications does Google expect for Solutions Architect roles?
Google typically looks for a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, combined with hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, enterprise software deployment, or large-scale system design. Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, or comparable technologies is a strong differentiator. Customer-facing experience and the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders are weighted heavily at the senior level.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at Google?
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March, and approved petitions have an October 1 start date. If you're subject to the cap, you'll need a job offer in place before the March registration window. Plan for a gap between your offer and your start date, and confirm whether your current authorization covers you through that period. If you're on OPT or a grace period, check your I-94 end date against the October timeline.
