Frame your portfolio around client-facing outcomes
BCG Solutions Architects are expected to translate complex technical architecture into business value for clients. Prepare case studies that show measurable impact on client outcomes, not just internal system builds or infrastructure work.
Verify your degree field aligns with specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree and the Solutions Architect role. A degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering is cleanest. If your degree is adjacent, gather employer documentation that explains why the role specifically requires your field.
Target BCG's technology and digital practice tracks specifically
BCG posts Solutions Architect roles primarily through its Digital, Technology, and Operations practices. Applying through those specific verticals rather than general consulting tracks puts your application in front of hiring teams who have direct experience sponsoring this function.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Solutions Architect roles at BCG
BCG's open positions shift frequently across practice areas and geographies. Use Migrate Mate to surface current Solutions Architect listings at BCG that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're applying to live roles rather than outdated postings.
Align your offer timeline with BCG's fiscal and project cycles
BCG typically ramps hiring ahead of major client engagement cycles. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date well before accepting an offer so BCG's immigration team has enough lead time to file an H-1B cap petition or initiate a cap-exempt path.
Understand how cap-exempt filing can apply at consulting firms
If BCG places you on a project at a qualifying nonprofit or government entity, that engagement may open a cap-exempt H-1B filing path through DOL and USCIS. Ask the recruiting team directly whether your placement could qualify before the H-1B lottery deadline.

Find Solutions Architect at Boston Consulting Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Consulting Group sponsor H-1B visas for Solutions Architects?
Yes. BCG sponsors H-1B visas for Solutions Architect roles and has done so consistently across its technology and digital practice areas. The firm works with experienced immigration counsel to handle filings, including both cap-subject lottery petitions and cap-exempt filings where eligible placements apply. If you're on OPT, raise the H-1B timeline early in the offer process so BCG's team can plan accordingly.
How do I apply for Solutions Architect jobs at Boston Consulting Group?
Applications go through BCG's careers portal, where Solutions Architect roles are listed under the Technology, Digital, and Operations practice areas. Migrate Mate is a practical starting point to find current BCG Solutions Architect openings that are open to visa sponsorship, so you can focus your applications on roles actively hiring international candidates rather than sifting through listings manually.
Which visa types does Boston Consulting Group commonly use for Solutions Architects?
BCG sponsors several visa categories for Solutions Architects, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students in qualifying programs. The right category depends on your citizenship and how far along you are in the immigration process. BCG's immigration team typically advises on which path applies to your situation after an offer is extended.
What qualifications does BCG expect for Solutions Architect roles?
BCG Solutions Architects are generally expected to have a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, along with hands-on experience designing enterprise-grade systems or cloud architecture. Consulting-specific skills matter here: BCG looks for candidates who can lead client workshops, structure ambiguous technical problems, and communicate architectural decisions to non-technical stakeholders, not just engineers who build in isolation.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Solutions Architects at BCG?
Timeline depends on your visa category. An H-1B cap petition filed in April typically takes effect October 1 of the same year, though USCIS premium processing can accelerate approval to around 15 business days. E-3 and TN petitions can move faster, often within a few weeks of an offer being finalized. BCG's immigration team initiates the process after offer acceptance, but you should flag your visa status and any expiring authorization during negotiations to avoid gaps in work authorization.
