INTRODUCTION
The Simulation Educator designs, develops, implements, and evaluates simulation-based learning experiences that support health professions education at the Belmont University Center for Interprofessional Engagement and Simulation (BUCIES). Simulation activities may include discipline-specific learning experiences as well as interprofessional education initiatives.
This position collaborates with faculty, simulation operations staff, standardized patient educators, and other stakeholders to develop high-quality, evidence-based simulation activities aligned with course objectives, Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP), and accreditation requirements.
The Simulation Educator contributes expertise in curriculum design, experiential learning, and simulation pedagogy to support the integration of simulation into academic programs. The role also supports faculty development, program evaluation, scholarly activities, and outreach efforts that promote the mission and growth of BUCIES.
The Simulation Educator also participates in the exploration and implementation of emerging simulation technologies and innovative teaching approaches that enhance experiential learning.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary position responsibilities:

Lead the development, implementation planning, and evaluation of simulation-based learning activities in collaboration with faculty, simulation operations specialists, and other stakeholders. Provide expertise in curriculum alignment, learning objectives, technology integration, and the effective and judicious use of simulation resources to support high-quality learning experiences consistent with Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP) and applicable accreditation standards.

Collaborate with the Director of Education, Director of Operations, simulation managers, simulation specialists, standardized patient educators, and other relevant partners to develop and deliver faculty and staff development in simulation-based education. Provide consultation, training, and guidance on simulation pedagogy, debriefing, scenario design, standards of best practice, accreditation-related expectations, and the effective use of simulation modalities, technologies, and resources.

Collaborate with simulation operations specialists, simulation managers, standardized patient educators, and other team members to support the operational planning and execution of simulation activities. Contribute to the selection and appropriate use of simulation modalities, equipment, supplies, spaces, and environmental elements to ensure fidelity, realism, and alignment with educational goals. Help anticipate future programmatic needs by identifying supplies, equipment, and staff development priorities needed to support evolving educational activities. Participate in simulation setup, delivery, and related activities as appropriate.

Contribute to scholarly, research, grant, and innovation activities that support the mission and growth of BUCIES in coordination with the center’s leadership and research partners. Assist with project development, data collection, dissemination, and other scholarly or programmatic initiatives as appropriate. Participate in local, regional, and national meetings or conferences at the direction of the supervisor.

Support outreach, engagement, and visibility efforts for BUCIES through facility tours, special events, presentations, and other activities that promote awareness of the center’s programs, services, and capabilities. Assist with marketing, communications, and relationship-building efforts as appropriate.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare simulation, education, a health profession, health professions education, or a related field is required. Master's degree or higher (PhD, EdD, MD) preferred. Current licensure, certification, or other professional qualifications as applicable to the candidate’s discipline and role is required.
Experience
1-3 years experience in Healthcare simulation, health professions education, curriculum development, clinical education, experiential learning, or a related field is required. 4-6 years experience preferred.
