Target roles in engineering and product
Figma's Green Card sponsorship is concentrated in software engineering, product management, and design. Focusing your search on these departments gives you the best chance of landing a role where the company has an established sponsorship track record.
Understand Figma's PERM-based process
Most employer-sponsored Green Cards at Figma go through PERM labor certification, which requires a formal recruitment process before your petition is filed. Knowing this upfront helps you ask the right questions during hiring conversations and set realistic timeline expectations.
Ask about sponsorship early in the process
In technology companies like Figma, immigration decisions are typically made by HR alongside hiring managers. Bringing up Green Card sponsorship before the offer stage helps you confirm alignment before investing significant time in the interview process.
Use Migrate Mate to verify sponsorship history
Not every open role at Figma will come with Green Card sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize applications where the company has already demonstrated a commitment to sponsoring similar roles.
Demonstrate long-term impact in your application
Figma invests in Green Card sponsorship for employees it sees as long-term contributors. Positioning yourself as someone with specialized, hard-to-replace skills in areas like collaborative design infrastructure, developer tools, or enterprise product growth strengthens your case for sponsorship consideration.
Plan for the EB-2 or EB-3 category based on your background
Figma typically sponsors through EB-2 for roles requiring advanced degrees or exceptional ability, and EB-3 for positions with bachelor's-level requirements. Understanding which category fits your qualifications helps you have more informed conversations with Figma's immigration team.
Figma Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Figma sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Figma sponsors Green Card visas for eligible employees. Sponsorship is primarily concentrated in technical and product-focused roles, including software engineering, product management, UX design, and research. The company works with immigration counsel to support employees through the PERM labor certification process and subsequent immigrant visa petitions.
Which roles and departments at Figma are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Engineering roles, particularly in software development and infrastructure, are the most common recipients of Green Card sponsorship at Figma. Product management, design, and research positions also see sponsorship activity. Roles requiring highly specialized skills, advanced degrees, or niche expertise in collaborative software or developer tooling tend to be strongest candidates for sponsorship support.
How does the Green Card application process work at Figma?
Figma follows the standard employer-sponsored Green Card pathway, which typically begins with PERM labor certification through the Department of Labor. Once PERM is approved, Figma files an I-140 immigrant petition. The process is managed in coordination with the company's immigration attorneys, and employees are guided through each stage after sponsorship is confirmed with HR.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Figma?
The timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the visa category your role falls under. PERM labor certification alone can take a year or more. For applicants born in India or China, priority date backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories can add years to the overall wait. Starting conversations with Figma's HR team early helps you plan accordingly.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Figma that include sponsorship?
The clearest approach is to search directly on Figma's careers page and filter for roles that align with departments where sponsorship is most common, such as engineering and product. Migrate Mate is also worth using, as it surfaces job listings from verified Green Card sponsors and lets you filter by company so you can focus on roles where sponsorship is confirmed rather than assumed.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Figma?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
