Job Roles at Genentech
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Genentech Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target research and scientific roles
Genentech's Green Card sponsorship is concentrated in research, clinical development, and biotech engineering functions. Applying to roles aligned with these functions gives you the strongest chance of landing a position where sponsorship is a standard part of the offer.
Ask about Green Card policy during late-stage interviews
Genentech has an established immigration program, so recruiters expect this question. Ask specifically whether the role includes Green Card sponsorship as part of the benefits package, not just H-1B, to confirm your eligibility before accepting an offer.
Understand the EB-2 vs EB-3 distinction for your role
Genentech typically files under EB-2 for roles requiring advanced degrees in life sciences or engineering, and EB-3 for others. Knowing which category applies to your background helps you set realistic timeline expectations before your Green Card process begins.
Use verified sponsorship data to focus your search
Not every open role at Genentech leads to a Green Card filing. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize applications to positions where permanent residence support is most likely.
Factor in PERM labor certification early
Genentech's Green Card process begins with PERM, which requires DOL-certified recruitment before filing. Understanding this step helps you have informed conversations with Genentech's immigration team and set accurate expectations about when your process will start.
Highlight specialized credentials relevant to medical devices
Genentech prioritizes Green Card sponsorship for candidates with specialized expertise in regulated industries. Emphasizing regulatory experience, clinical research credentials, or biotech engineering skills in your application strengthens your case for sponsorship consideration.

Does Genentech sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Genentech sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees across its research, clinical, and engineering functions. The company has an established immigration program and works with experienced immigration counsel to manage the full process, from PERM labor certification through to the final I-485 adjustment of status filing.
Which roles and departments at Genentech typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Genentech is most common in research science, clinical development, bioinformatics, regulatory affairs, and biotech engineering. Roles that require specialized advanced degrees in life sciences or engineering are strong candidates for EB-2 sponsorship, while other technical positions may be supported under EB-3.
How does the Green Card application process work at Genentech?
Genentech initiates the Green Card process through PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition filed with USCIS. Once a visa number is available, employees can file for adjustment of status or consular processing. Genentech's internal immigration team coordinates the process with outside counsel.
How long does the Green Card process take at Genentech?
The timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the visa category your role qualifies under. For employees born in India or China, backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories can mean waits of many years even after I-140 approval. Employees born in other countries typically move through the process much faster.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Genentech?
Search Genentech's careers page directly and filter for roles in scientific, clinical, and engineering departments where sponsorship is most common. Migrate Mate also lists verified Green Card-sponsoring employers, making it easier to confirm that roles you apply to have a real history of supporting permanent residence before you invest time in the application.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Genentech?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
