Target engineering and R&D roles first
Lam Research's Green Card sponsorships are concentrated in semiconductor process engineering, equipment development, and research roles. Applying to these technical tracks gives you the strongest chance of landing a position where permanent residence sponsorship is a standard part of the employment offer.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Green Card sponsorship at Lam Research typically begins with PERM, where the company must advertise the role and demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Knowing this process helps you set realistic expectations and ask the right questions during your interview.
Ask about sponsorship timelines during the offer stage
Green Card timelines at large employers in the Electronics and Hardware industry vary by visa category and your country of birth. Raising the topic during salary negotiation, rather than after you start, helps you understand when sponsorship would realistically begin.
Search for verified sponsoring employers before applying
Not every job posting signals genuine Green Card willingness. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your applications on Lam Research roles where permanent residence support is most likely.
Build domain expertise in semiconductor manufacturing
Lam Research sponsors Green Cards for roles requiring specialized knowledge of etch, deposition, and wafer fabrication processes. Candidates with deep, demonstrable expertise in these technical areas are far more likely to receive sponsorship than generalist applicants.
Lam Research Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors Green Card visas and is considered one of the more active permanent residence sponsors in the semiconductor equipment sector. Sponsorship is most common for engineers, researchers, and highly technical specialists in roles tied to its core chip manufacturing and process technology business.
Which roles and departments at Lam Research are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Lam Research is most concentrated in process engineering, equipment engineering, R&D, and software development roles that support semiconductor fabrication. Corporate functions such as finance or marketing are less commonly sponsored. The stronger your technical specialization in areas like etch or deposition, the more likely sponsorship becomes part of your offer.
How does the Green Card application process work at Lam Research?
Lam Research typically initiates Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification route, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition filed with USCIS. The company's immigration team or an outside law firm manages the process on your behalf. You'll generally need to have been employed at Lam Research for some time before the process begins.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Lam Research?
The timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the employment-based category used. For applicants born in India or China, priority date backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories can extend the wait by years beyond the initial PERM and I-140 filing period. Applicants born in most other countries typically face a shorter path once the petition is approved.
How do I improve my chances of getting Green Card sponsorship at Lam Research?
Focus your application on technical roles where Lam Research has a demonstrated need for specialized talent, particularly in semiconductor process and equipment engineering. Raise the sponsorship question during the offer negotiation stage rather than after you start. Using Migrate Mate to identify Lam Research openings tied to verified sponsorship history helps you target the right positions from the start.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Lam Research?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
