Align your credentials to EB-2 or EB-3 eligibility
Rady Children's typically files Green Cards under EB-2 or EB-3 depending on the role's degree requirements. EB-2 applies to positions requiring an advanced degree; EB-3 covers roles needing a bachelor's or professional licensure. Knowing which category fits your credentials shapes how you present your application materials.
Verify your clinical license before applying
Pediatric healthcare roles at Rady Children's require active California licensure before PERM sponsorship begins. Delays in obtaining your RN, LCSW, or specialist license stall the entire Green Card timeline. Complete your NCLEX or state board requirements and have your license number ready before submitting any application.
Research open roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate shows you which roles at Rady Children's Hospital have active Green Card filing history, so you can target positions where sponsorship is already established. Filter by employer and role type to focus your search on departments with a track record of supporting international candidates through permanent residency.
Understand the PERM labor certification timeline
PERM requires the employer to conduct a federally supervised recruitment process before DOL certifies that no qualified U.S. worker is available. At Rady Children's, this typically applies to EB-2 and EB-3 filings. The PERM stage alone can take six to twelve months, so factor this into your overall residency planning.
Request a prevailing wage check before negotiating
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your specific role in San Diego before salary discussions. Accepting below the prevailing wage can invalidate the PERM filing and delay your Green Card by months.
Clarify sponsorship terms during the offer stage
Ask directly whether Rady Children's will cover PERM and I-140 filing fees or pass any costs to you. Confirm whether sponsorship is tied to a specific department or location, since internal transfers can sometimes require restarting the PERM process. Get these terms in writing before signing your employment agreement.
Rady Children's Hospital Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Rady Children's Hospital sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Rady Children's Hospital sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying clinical and specialized roles. Sponsorship is typically offered under the EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant preference categories, depending on the position's educational requirements. Sponsorship is generally initiated after a candidate establishes employment and demonstrates long-term fit within the department.
Which roles at Rady Children's Hospital typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Rady Children's is most common in clinical departments including nursing, pediatric medicine, allied health, and specialized therapy roles. Positions requiring advanced degrees or hard-to-fill certifications are stronger candidates for EB-2 sponsorship, while roles requiring a bachelor's degree and licensure typically fall under EB-3.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Rady Children's Hospital?
Migrate Mate lets you search Rady Children's Hospital's filing history to identify roles where Green Card sponsorship has been supported. Filtering by visa type and employer helps you prioritize applications for departments with an established pattern of sponsoring international candidates through the PERM and I-140 stages.
How do I start the Green Card process at Rady Children's Hospital?
The process begins when Rady Children's initiates a PERM labor certification with DOL on your behalf. This involves a supervised recruitment process to confirm no qualified U.S. worker is available. Once PERM is certified, the hospital files an I-140 petition with USCIS. Your active California clinical license must be in place before this process begins.
How long does the Green Card process take at Rady Children's Hospital?
The timeline from PERM filing to receiving your Green Card typically spans several years. PERM certification alone takes six to twelve months, followed by I-140 adjudication by USCIS. For EB-3 applicants from certain countries, priority date backlogs can extend the wait further. Starting early in your employment and maintaining valid H-1B visa status throughout is essential.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Rady Children's Hospital?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
