Target engineering and technical roles
Sanmina's Green Card filings have historically centered on engineering and technical operations positions. Roles in electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering align most closely with the company's sponsorship priorities in the Electronics and Hardware sector.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Green Card sponsorship at Sanmina typically begins with PERM labor certification, where the company must document that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Familiarity with this process helps you set realistic timeline expectations and prepare your documentation early.
Raise sponsorship during the offer stage
The right time to confirm Green Card sponsorship intent is during the offer negotiation, not after you've started. Asking clearly and early signals you understand the process and lets HR assess eligibility before you're onboarded.
Use platforms that verify sponsorship history
Not every job listing clarifies whether a company sponsors Green Cards. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time when targeting Sanmina roles that are genuinely open to permanent residency sponsorship.
Consider site-specific hiring patterns
Sanmina operates multiple U.S. manufacturing facilities, and sponsorship activity can vary by location. Engineering hubs and larger production sites in the Electronics and Hardware sector tend to have stronger sponsorship infrastructure than smaller regional offices.
Maintain valid nonimmigrant status throughout the process
Green Card processing at Sanmina can take several years. Keeping your H-1B visa or other nonimmigrant status current and in good standing is critical to staying eligible while your permanent residency case moves through the PERM and petition stages.
Sanmina Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sanmina sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Sanmina sponsors Green Card visas for eligible employees in technical and engineering roles. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every position, so candidates should confirm Green Card support directly with the hiring team or recruiter during the interview and offer process.
Which roles and departments at Sanmina are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Sanmina is most commonly associated with engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering, as well as technical operations and quality roles. These positions align with Sanmina's core business in Electronics and Hardware and are where employer-sponsored permanent residency is most frequently initiated.
How does the Green Card application process work at Sanmina?
Sanmina typically sponsors Green Cards through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories. The process begins with PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Once a visa number is available, employees can apply to adjust their status to permanent resident.
How long does the Green Card process take at Sanmina?
The timeline depends on your country of birth and the EB category your role falls under. PERM and I-140 processing alone can take one to two years. For applicants born in India or China, visa backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories mean total wait times can extend significantly beyond that.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Sanmina?
Start by searching Sanmina's careers page and filtering for engineering and technical roles at their U.S. facilities. Migrate Mate is also worth checking, as it identifies companies with verified Green Card sponsorship histories so you can focus your search on positions where long-term sponsorship support is more likely.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Sanmina?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
