Job Roles at Waymo
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Waymo Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target engineering and AI research roles
Waymo's Green Card sponsorships cluster heavily in software engineering, machine learning, and robotics. These technical disciplines align with the company's core autonomous driving mission, making them the most reliable pathway to employer-sponsored permanent residence.
Ask about Green Card timelines during the offer stage
Waymo operates in a competitive talent market and understands sponsorship expectations. Raising Green Card sponsorship during offer negotiations is standard practice in deep tech, and most recruiters can outline the company's typical process and timeline.
Factor in your priority date early
If you're from India or China, EB-2 and EB-3 backlogs can significantly extend your Green Card timeline regardless of employer. Understanding where your priority date lands relative to the Visa Bulletin helps you set realistic expectations before accepting an offer.
Use verified sponsorship data when job searching
Not every job listing at Waymo will explicitly mention Green Card sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your applications on roles where sponsorship is genuinely available.
Build tenure before PERM kicks off
Waymo typically initiates the PERM labor certification process after an employee has established themselves in their role. Demonstrating strong performance in your first year increases the likelihood your employer prioritizes your Green Card filing.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Waymo sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Waymo sponsors Green Card visas and is considered an active Green Card sponsor within the autonomous vehicle and AI industry. The company files under EB-2 and EB-3 categories, primarily for technical and engineering roles. If long-term U.S. work authorization is a priority, Waymo's sponsorship history makes it a legitimate target for your job search.
Which roles at Waymo are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Software engineers, machine learning researchers, robotics engineers, and other technical specialists make up the majority of Waymo's Green Card filings. Research and hardware engineering departments also see sponsorship activity. Roles in business operations or non-technical functions are less commonly sponsored, so targeting core technology positions gives you the strongest chance.
How does the Green Card application process work at Waymo?
Waymo typically begins the process with PERM labor certification, where the Department of Labor verifies no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. Once PERM is approved, Waymo files an I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf. After approval and visa number availability, you either adjust status inside the U.S. or go through consular processing abroad.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Waymo?
The timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the EB category you qualify under. For most nationalities, the PERM and I-140 process takes one to two years. Applicants born in India or China face significantly longer waits due to per-country visa backlogs, sometimes extending a decade or more. Monitoring the monthly Visa Bulletin is essential for planning.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Waymo?
Search Waymo's careers page directly and filter for engineering and research roles, since those departments sponsor most frequently. For a broader view of verified sponsoring employers in the autonomous vehicle and AI space, Migrate Mate lets you filter job opportunities by confirmed Green Card sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which listings will actually lead to sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Waymo?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
