Target engineering and technical roles
Astera Labs hires heavily in hardware and software engineering. H-1B sponsorship at the company is most consistently tied to roles requiring specialized degrees in electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical disciplines.
Confirm sponsorship intent early in the process
Ask your recruiter directly whether the role includes H-1B sponsorship before progressing through interviews. Astera Labs hiring managers are accustomed to sponsorship conversations given the technical nature of their workforce.
Align your background to semiconductor infrastructure
Astera Labs focuses on connectivity and data center hardware. Candidates whose experience spans PCIe, CXL protocols, or high-speed signaling are well-positioned for H-1B-sponsored roles where deep technical specialization is a clear qualifier.
Use Migrate Mate to identify verified H-1B sponsors
Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history. Searching for Astera Labs specifically lets you see open roles confirmed against actual H-1B filing records, saving time on applications at companies that won't sponsor.
Understand the H-1B cap and lottery timing
If you're not currently in H-1B status, your start date depends on the annual lottery. Astera Labs typically initiates petitions well ahead of the April filing window, so expect recruiter conversations about timing during the offer stage.
Highlight degree relevance, not just experience
H-1B eligibility requires your degree to match the role. For Astera Labs positions in hardware or firmware, make sure your resume clearly connects your academic background in engineering or computer science to the specific job description.
Astera Labs H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Astera Labs sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Astera Labs sponsors H-1B visas. The company operates in the semiconductor and data infrastructure space, where specialized engineering talent is in high demand, and it has an established track record of sponsoring international candidates for technical roles. Sponsorship is most commonly offered for positions in hardware engineering, software engineering, and systems architecture.
Which roles and departments at Astera Labs typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Astera Labs is concentrated in engineering functions. Roles in hardware design, firmware development, ASIC verification, software engineering, and signal integrity are the most likely candidates. Business and administrative functions are less commonly sponsored. If your target role requires a specialized technical degree, sponsorship is more likely to be on the table.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Astera Labs?
Once Astera Labs extends an offer, the company works with an immigration attorney to prepare your H-1B petition. This includes filing a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor and submitting Form I-129 to USCIS. Astera Labs handles these steps on your behalf. Your role is to provide documentation confirming your degree, job duties, and current immigration status promptly when requested.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Astera Labs?
Timeline depends on whether you're subject to the H-1B cap. If you are, you'll need to enter the April lottery for an October 1 start date, making the full cycle roughly six months from registration to employment. If you're already on H-1B status with another employer, Astera Labs can file a transfer petition and you can start work once it's received. Premium processing is available and reduces USCIS adjudication to about 15 business days.
How do I find open H-1B jobs at Astera Labs?
Astera Labs posts openings on its careers page, but confirming which roles include H-1B sponsorship requires additional research. Migrate Mate makes this easier by filtering verified H-1B sponsors and matching open positions to real sponsorship history. This is especially useful at companies like Astera Labs, where not every posting explicitly states sponsorship availability upfront.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Astera Labs?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
