Align your degree to specialty occupation standards
Avis Budget Group's H-1B petitions require your role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS rules. Pull the relevant O*NET occupation profile for your target role and confirm the standard entry requirement is a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not a general business or management degree.
Research LCA filings before applying
Before submitting your application, search the OFLC Wage Search to find prevailing wage levels for your target role and location. Avis Budget Group's corporate roles are often based in Parsippany, New Jersey, so confirm local wage data matches what you'd negotiate before accepting an offer.
Target corporate and technology teams directly
Avis Budget Group's H-1B sponsorship concentrates in technology, revenue management, and finance functions rather than field operations. Filter your job search to corporate headquarters roles in IT architecture, data engineering, or financial planning, where H-1B petitions are a standard part of the hiring workflow.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment during offer negotiations
Ask your recruiter whether Avis Budget Group is enrolled in E-Verify before your offer is finalized. As a large employer in the rental and leasing sector, they're typically enrolled, but confirming early prevents complications when USCIS processes your I-9 documentation after your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to check Avis Budget Group's sponsorship history
Search Avis Budget Group on Migrate Mate to review verified DOL Labor Condition Application data by role and office location. This tells you which job titles the company has actively sponsored, so you can target your application to roles with a documented H-1B filing history.
Flag your visa status early in the process
Avis Budget Group's in-house immigration team needs lead time to coordinate LCA filing, I-129 preparation, and premium processing decisions before the April H-1B cap deadline. Disclose your visa status in the initial recruiter screen so hiring timelines can account for USCIS processing requirements from the start.
Avis Budget Group H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Avis Budget Group sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Avis Budget Group sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles. Sponsorship is most common in technology, data analytics, finance, and corporate operations functions. The company has filed H-1B petitions consistently, making it a legitimate target for international professionals in those fields. You can verify their filing history through Migrate Mate before applying.
Which departments at Avis Budget Group typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Avis Budget Group is concentrated in corporate functions rather than field or rental operations. Technology roles including software engineering, data science, and IT infrastructure are common sponsorship areas. Finance, revenue management, and enterprise systems roles also appear in their Labor Condition Application filings. Customer-facing or hourly positions are not typically H-1B eligible.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Avis Budget Group?
Once you receive an offer, Avis Budget Group's legal or HR team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL and then submits Form I-129 to USCIS. The process runs on an annual cap cycle with registration in March and an October 1 start date. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a cap-exempt transfer may apply outside that window.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Avis Budget Group?
Standard USCIS processing for an H-1B petition runs several months after the October 1 start date. Avis Budget Group may elect premium processing, which guarantees a USCIS decision within 15 business days for an additional fee. For cap-subject cases, factor in the March lottery registration window and plan your job search timeline accordingly to avoid gaps in authorization.
What should I know about H-1B prevailing wage requirements at Avis Budget Group?
Avis Budget Group must pay you at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and worksite location before USCIS will approve the H-1B petition. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Level I through Level IV wage rates for your occupation code in the relevant metropolitan area. Roles based at corporate headquarters in New Jersey carry specific wage floors that may differ from other office locations.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Avis Budget Group?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
