Target faculty and research openings
MSU Denver's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in academic roles, assistant professors, lecturers, and research staff. Focus your search on department-level faculty postings where a specialized degree is a firm requirement, not just a preference.
Confirm sponsorship willingness early
University HR departments vary on sponsorship by role type. When applying at MSU Denver, confirm during the initial recruiter screen whether the specific position has budget and institutional approval for H-1B sponsorship before investing time in the process.
Understand the university's H-1B timeline
MSU Denver coordinates H-1B filings through its international HR office. Hiring timelines in higher education can be longer than the private sector, so factor in academic hiring cycles, particularly fall semester start dates, when planning your application.
Use a verified sponsor filter when job searching
Not every university posting will clearly state sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify MSU Denver roles where H-1B support has been documented.
Align your credentials with the specialty occupation standard
H-1B approval at a university requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. For MSU Denver positions, ensure your degree field directly matches the job's core duties, particularly important for interdisciplinary or administrative academic roles.
Engage the international faculty office proactively
MSU Denver's international services or HR office manages the H-1B petition process internally. Reaching out before an offer is extended can clarify institutional timelines, required documentation, and whether the department has prior experience sponsoring H-1B employees.
