Target engineering and technical roles
Olsson's H-1B filings concentrate in engineering disciplines like civil, structural, and environmental consulting. Focusing your applications on roles that directly align with specialty occupation requirements gives you the strongest case for sponsorship consideration.
Raise sponsorship early in conversations
In professional services firms like Olsson, hiring decisions involve multiple stakeholders. Mentioning your H-1B need during the initial recruiter screen avoids late-stage surprises and gives the team time to confirm internal approval before extending an offer.
Understand Olsson's project-based hiring
Consulting firms hire against active project demand. Aligning your skills with Olsson's current service lines, including transportation, water, and buildings, signals that you can contribute immediately, which strengthens the business case for sponsoring your H-1B petition.
Use verified sponsorship data to find open roles
Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify active Olsson openings where H-1B support is confirmed rather than assumed from a job listing that may not reflect current policy.
Document the specialty occupation connection clearly
USCIS scrutinizes consulting roles closely. Before applying, prepare to show that your position at Olsson requires a specific bachelor's degree field, not just any degree. Gathering supporting documentation early reduces delays when your employer's attorney begins the petition.
Account for the H-1B lottery timeline in your planning
If you require a new H-1B cap-subject petition, registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. Discuss this timeline with Olsson's HR team early so both sides have realistic expectations and can plan your start date accordingly.
Olsson H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Olsson sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Olsson sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles. The company operates in engineering and technical consulting, fields that routinely support specialty occupation petitions. Sponsorship is typically considered for roles where a specific degree is a genuine requirement, so candidates in engineering and related disciplines are best positioned to receive support.
Which roles and departments at Olsson are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Olsson is most common in engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, transportation, environmental, and mechanical engineering. These roles map cleanly to specialty occupation standards because they require a specific bachelor's degree in a related field. Project management and design roles with a strong technical component may also qualify, depending on the position's requirements.
How do I apply for a role at Olsson as an H-1B candidate?
Apply through Olsson's careers page and disclose your visa status during the recruiter screening call. If selected, Olsson's HR team works with an immigration attorney to file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, then submits the H-1B petition to USCIS. Starting the conversation early in the hiring process gives everyone enough time to complete the required steps.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Olsson?
Once an offer is extended, standard H-1B processing takes several months from LCA filing through USCIS adjudication. Cap-subject petitions have a hard October 1 start date, so the timeline is tied to the annual lottery cycle. Premium processing, which expedites USCIS review to 15 business days, is sometimes available and can reduce uncertainty for both the candidate and the employer.
How do I find verified H-1B job openings at Olsson?
Migrate Mate lists verified H-1B sponsoring employers, including Olsson, so you can search open roles with confidence that the company has a documented sponsorship history. This is more reliable than filtering generic job boards, where sponsorship claims are often unverified or based on outdated information. Checking Olsson's official careers page alongside Migrate Mate gives you the most complete picture of current openings.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Olsson?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
