Align your credentials to Texas certification requirements
Texas requires state-issued teaching certificates for classroom roles, and PFLISD's HR team will want to see that your foreign credentials have been evaluated for equivalency. Get a foreign credential evaluation completed before applying so your qualifications are ready to submit alongside your application.
Target roles classified as specialty occupations
Not every school district position qualifies for H-1B. Focus your search on roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as bilingual educators, special education specialists, or STEM instructors, where the specialty occupation standard is clearest to USCIS adjudicators.
Research PFLISD's historical H-1B filing patterns
Use Migrate Mate to review Pflugerville ISD's Labor Condition Application filing history by role and department. This shows which job titles the district has sponsored before, helping you target positions where the district already has an established sponsorship process in place.
Ask HR directly about sponsorship policy during interviews
School districts handle H-1B sponsorship through central HR departments, not individual campus principals. During your interview process, ask specifically whether the district's HR division handles LCA filing and petitions internally or through outside immigration counsel, so you know who owns the timeline.
Time your application around the H-1B cap filing window
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration each March for the fiscal year starting October 1. If PFLISD extends you an offer, confirm your start date aligns with this cycle. Public school districts are cap-subject employers, so missing the registration window means waiting a full year to reapply.
Verify your offered salary meets DOL prevailing wage standards
Before accepting any offer, check your role's wage level using the OFLC Wage Search and cross-reference it against your offered salary. PFLISD must certify on the LCA that your wage meets the prevailing wage for your job title and location, so a below-standard offer will delay or block filing.
Pflugerville Independent School District H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Pflugerville Independent School District sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Pflugerville Independent School District sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying positions. Sponsorship is typically extended to roles in instruction and student support that meet the USCIS specialty occupation standard, meaning the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Sponsorship decisions are made by the district's central HR department on a case-by-case basis.
Which roles at Pflugerville ISD are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at PFLISD is most commonly associated with instructional roles requiring specialized degrees, such as bilingual education teachers, special education specialists, and STEM subject instructors. Support roles like school psychologists or speech-language pathologists may also qualify given their credential requirements. Administrative or paraprofessional positions are generally less likely to meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Pflugerville ISD?
Once PFLISD extends a job offer, the district's HR team or its immigration counsel files a Labor Condition Application with DOL, then submits an H-1B petition to USCIS. Your role is to provide supporting documents, including your degree transcripts, credential evaluations, and any relevant certifications. Staying responsive to HR requests during this period keeps the filing on schedule.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at a school district like PFLISD?
The timeline has two main phases. DOL certifies the Labor Condition Application within seven business days in most cases. USCIS then adjudicates the H-1B petition, which takes several months under standard processing. Premium processing is available through USCIS for faster adjudication. Because school districts often hire on an academic-year schedule, confirm your expected start date with HR early in the process.
How do I find open H-1B roles at Pflugerville ISD?
Use Migrate Mate to search Pflugerville ISD's verified H-1B sponsorship history and identify the types of roles the district has filed for in the past. Cross-reference those findings with current job postings on the district's official careers page. Applying to roles that match previously sponsored job titles gives you the clearest path to a sponsorship conversation with HR.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Pflugerville Independent School District?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
