INTRODUCTION
We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam. This Week in Fintech is the largest global fintech media company with 200,000+ subscribers to a publication that provides insights, news, and connections within the financial technology ecosystem. What began as a newsletter focused on curating and sharing industry updates, trends, and innovations in the fintech space has grown to include a range of products including podcasts, events, conferences, and an online community to bring together fintech professionals, investors, and enthusiasts worldwide.
This Week in Fintech is seeking a highly organized, creative, and entrepreneurial Senior Events & Experiences Manager to help build and scale one of the most influential fintech communities in the world. This is not a traditional events role. We are looking for someone who understands how experiences create brand value, strengthen relationships, drive partnerships, and build lasting community. You’ll lead the strategy and execution behind TWIF’s growing portfolio of experiences — from intimate executive dinners and private salons to large-scale conferences, ecosystem gatherings, and strategic partner activations. You’ll work directly with leadership and become a key part of shaping how TWIF shows up across fintech, startups, venture capital, and media.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of TWIF flagship events, conferences, executive dinners, community gatherings, and sponsored experiences from concept through onsite execution.
- Partner with leadership to develop event strategies, programming concepts, and experience formats that strengthen TWIF’s brand, audience growth, and ecosystem influence.
- Build and manage relationships with venues, vendors, sponsors, speakers, VIP attendees, ecosystem partners, and community members.
- Coordinate sponsor deliverables and partner integrations to ensure high-quality execution and long-term relationship growth.
- Manage production timelines, budgets, run-of-show documents, vendor coordination, travel logistics, attendee communications, and onsite operations.
- Help cultivate meaningful relationships across the fintech, startup, investor, and operator ecosystem through thoughtful hospitality and curated experiences.
- Develop systems, playbooks, and repeatable processes that allow TWIF’s events platform to scale without compromising quality or experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5–8+ years of experience in events, experiential marketing, hospitality, media, startups, fintech, or community programming.
- Proven ability to manage high-touch experiences involving founders, executives, investors, sponsors, and VIP audiences.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to execute independently in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build trust and long-term relationships.
- Strong eye for audience experience, hospitality, branding, and event design.
Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. Target engineering and technical roles first
Plaid's H-1B sponsorship activity is concentrated in software engineering, infrastructure, and data roles. If your background is in these areas, you're applying for the positions Plaid has the most established pipeline for sponsoring.
Confirm sponsorship before investing time in your application
Not every open role at a tech company comes with H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and confirm Plaid's active roles before applying.
Understand Plaid's H-1B timeline relative to the annual cap
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. Aligning your Plaid interview and offer timeline with this window is critical to avoiding a full-year wait for the next filing cycle.
Highlight fintech domain knowledge in your application materials
Plaid sits at the intersection of banking infrastructure and developer tools. Candidates who can speak to financial data, API integrations, or payments systems will stand out and signal clear fit for the specialty occupation standard.
Ask HR directly about their H-1B process during recruiting
Plaid's recruiting team can clarify whether a specific role is approved for sponsorship, which law firm handles their petitions, and whether premium processing is standard. Asking early prevents surprises late in the process.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation early
A strong H-1B petition at a technology company like Plaid requires demonstrating that your role requires a specialized degree. Gather your transcripts, degree equivalency materials, and employer support letters well before your offer stage.
Plaid H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Plaid sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Plaid sponsors H-1B visas. The company has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions, primarily for technical roles in software engineering, data, and infrastructure. If you're a skilled worker in fintech or adjacent technology fields, Plaid is a legitimate H-1B sponsor worth targeting in your job search.
Which roles and departments at Plaid typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Plaid is most common in software engineering, platform and infrastructure engineering, data science, and product roles that require a specialized degree. Business operations and generalist roles are less frequently sponsored. Candidates with strong technical backgrounds in financial data or API development are the best fit for Plaid's H-1B pipeline.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Plaid?
Once Plaid extends an offer to an H-1B candidate, their legal team or outside immigration counsel files the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, then submits the H-1B petition to USCIS. Your role is to provide documentation of your qualifications and degree. Communicate early with your recruiter to confirm sponsorship is approved for your specific position before signing.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at a company like Plaid?
The H-1B cap registration opens in March, with a lottery in late March and petition filing by April 1 for an October 1 start. If you're already in valid H-1B status with another employer, a transfer can happen faster. Premium processing, which Plaid may offer, cuts USCIS adjudication to around two to three weeks after filing.
How do I find H-1B jobs at Plaid as an international candidate?
Search for open roles at Plaid and verify that each position explicitly supports H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate lists companies with confirmed H-1B sponsorship histories, making it easier to identify active roles at Plaid and similar fintech employers without wasting time on positions that don't support international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Plaid?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
