Target technical and engineering roles first
STV's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in specialty occupation roles like civil engineering, structural engineering, and transportation planning. These roles map cleanly to H-1B's degree requirements, making them stronger candidates for sponsorship than generalist positions.
Understand STV's project-driven hiring cycle
Consulting firms like STV hire around project wins and contract awards. Watch for job postings tied to major infrastructure or transit projects, as those represent active headcount needs where sponsorship conversations are more likely to move forward.
Raise sponsorship early in the process
Don't wait until you have an offer to ask about H-1B. In consulting, project timelines drive everything, and a late disclosure can stall hiring. Confirm sponsorship availability in your first recruiter conversation to avoid investing weeks in the wrong opportunity.
Use platforms that verify sponsorship history
Generic job boards don't distinguish between companies that occasionally hire international candidates and firms with consistent H-1B programs. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your search on companies like STV that actually file.
Emphasize licensed or certifiable skills
STV values engineers who hold or are working toward a Professional Engineer license. If you're an international candidate pursuing PE licensure, mention it. It signals commitment to U.S. professional standards and can make your profile more compelling to a firm where credentials carry weight.
Align your application with STV's core sectors
STV's work spans transportation, aviation, bridges, and water infrastructure. Tailoring your resume and cover letter to one of these verticals, rather than submitting generic applications, shows you understand the firm's business and increases your chances of reaching the sponsorship conversation.
STV H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does STV sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, STV sponsors H-1B visas. The firm has an established record of filing H-1B petitions, particularly for engineering and technical roles across its infrastructure and consulting practices. If you're applying for a specialty occupation role that requires a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, H-1B sponsorship is a real possibility at STV.
Which roles at STV are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at STV is most common in roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, including civil engineers, structural engineers, transportation planners, environmental engineers, and project managers with technical backgrounds. Roles in corporate functions like HR or general administration are less likely to be sponsored, as they're harder to qualify under H-1B's degree-field requirements.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at STV?
Once STV extends an offer and confirms sponsorship, their HR and legal teams coordinate with an immigration attorney to file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, then submit the H-1B petition to USCIS. As the applicant, you'll provide personal documents and employment details, but the employer drives the filing. STV's consulting structure means they're familiar with this workflow for technical hires.
How do I find H-1B jobs at STV that are open to sponsorship?
Start by searching STV's careers page directly and filtering for engineering and infrastructure roles. For a more efficient approach, Migrate Mate lets you search for H-1B sponsoring companies by name and browse verified open roles in one place, saving you the guesswork of determining which postings are actually open to international candidates requiring sponsorship.
What is the H-1B timeline I should expect if STV sponsors me?
The standard H-1B process runs on an annual cycle. USCIS opens lottery registration in March, selections are announced in late March or April, and approved petitions take effect October 1. From registration to work authorization, the full process spans roughly six to seven months. If you need to start sooner, STV may be able to explore cap-exempt scenarios depending on your situation, though that's less common in consulting.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at STV?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
