Target faculty and research postings first
Villanova's H-1B sponsorship is most consistent in academic and research roles. Focus your search on open faculty positions, postdoctoral fellowships, and research scientist roles, where sponsorship is a standard part of the hiring process.
Engage the department directly, not just HR
In higher education, department chairs and principal investigators often drive sponsorship decisions before HR gets involved. Reaching out to relevant academic departments can signal genuine interest and give you insight into upcoming funded positions.
Understand Villanova's academic hiring calendar
University faculty searches follow predictable timelines, with most postings opening in the fall for the following academic year. Aligning your application with this cycle improves your chances of being considered before sponsorship decisions are finalized.
Verify sponsorship history before applying
Not every role at Villanova comes with H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus on positions where international hiring is an established pattern rather than a case-by-case decision.
Highlight specialized expertise that's hard to fill domestically
H-1B sponsorship in higher education is strongest when an employer can demonstrate a specific skills need. Emphasizing research specializations, niche technical skills, or teaching expertise in high-demand fields strengthens the case for your petition at Villanova.
Ask about sponsorship scope early in the process
During interviews, ask whether the role has supported H-1B sponsorship before and which office manages the process. Villanova's Office of General Counsel or an external immigration firm typically handles filings, and knowing the workflow sets realistic timeline expectations.
