Frame your tech skills around construction workflows
Horrocks builds software for infrastructure and real estate projects, so position your experience around GIS tools, project management integrations, or field data systems. Generic software credentials are less compelling than experience that maps to built-environment problems.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Software Engineer roles
Horrocks posts a substantial volume of Software Engineer openings across specializations. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you focus your applications on positions where sponsorship is explicitly available.
Protect your OPT timeline before your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT, your 60-day grace period begins the moment employment ends. Coordinate your start date carefully so there's no gap between authorization and your first day, and align with your DSO before signing any offer.
Prepare documentation that reflects a specialty occupation
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires that your Software Engineer role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Gather transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations if your credential is foreign, and any documentation showing the theoretical or technical depth of your prior work.
Ask HR whether H-1B filing follows the cap or cap-exempt path
Most corporate H-1B filings are subject to the annual lottery, which runs in April for an October start. Clarify this timeline with Horrocks HR early so you know whether your offer depends on lottery selection and can plan accordingly.

Does Horrocks sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Horrocks sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. Because most corporate H-1B filings are cap-subject, sponsorship typically depends on USCIS lottery selection in April, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, a transfer to Horrocks avoids the lottery entirely.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Horrocks?
You can browse and apply for Software Engineer positions at Horrocks directly through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. When you apply, be upfront about your visa status in your application or cover note so the recruiter can assess sponsorship fit from the start.
Which visa types does Horrocks commonly sponsor for Software Engineers?
Horrocks sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas for Software Engineer roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while the TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. H-1B is the standard long-term path for most international engineers.
What qualifications does Horrocks expect for Software Engineer roles?
Horrocks hires Software Engineers with backgrounds in developing systems for infrastructure, construction, or geospatial applications. A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field is the baseline expectation. Experience with GIS platforms, cloud-based project tools, or field data applications is a practical differentiator given the company's focus on built-environment industries.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Horrocks to sponsor my visa?
The timeline depends on your current status. F-1 OPT authorization can begin within 90 days of your graduation date, and you can start with Horrocks while an H-1B petition is pending. For a new H-1B, USCIS opens registration each March, so an offer in hand before then is ideal. TN status can be obtained at the border or port of entry with your offer letter and credential documentation, making it faster than H-1B for eligible nationals.
