Align Your Credentials to Horrocks Project Types
Horrocks focuses on transportation, land development, and municipal infrastructure. Tailor your resume to highlight experience in roadway design, grading plans, or utility coordination, the disciplines that appear most consistently across their open Civil Project Engineer postings.
Get Your PE Licensure Timeline Ready
Many civil engineering roles at firms like Horrocks require or expect progress toward Professional Engineer licensure. Know which state you'd be working in and confirm your EIT status is documented, since employers often ask about PE eligibility during early screening calls.
Target Horrocks Offices in High-Activity States
Horrocks operates across several western and mountain states where infrastructure investment is active. Research which office locations have the most open Civil Project Engineer roles and direct your applications there, since sponsorship decisions are often made at the regional or office level.
Clarify Your Visa Type Before the Offer Stage
F-1 OPT and CPT candidates should confirm with Horrocks HR whether the role qualifies as a specialty occupation under H-1B standards before accepting an offer. Civil engineering roles typically qualify, but confirming upfront avoids delays once your OPT window starts.
Understand the H-1B Cap and Timing Constraints
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. Plan your Horrocks application and interview timeline so an offer can be in place before the registration window, giving your employer time to file on your behalf.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Verified Openings
Tracking which employers actively post Civil Project Engineer roles and sponsor visas takes time. Use Migrate Mate to filter Horrocks openings by visa type so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is confirmed, not guessing from a generic job listing.

Find Civil Project Engineer at Horrocks JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Horrocks sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Project Engineers?
Yes, Horrocks has sponsored H-1B visas for Civil Project Engineers. Civil engineering roles at infrastructure-focused firms like Horrocks typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, requiring at least a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a directly related field. If you're targeting an H-1B, confirm with the hiring team early in the process that the specific role supports sponsorship.
How do I apply for Civil Project Engineer jobs at Horrocks?
You can browse current Civil Project Engineer openings at Horrocks directly on their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. When applying, highlight relevant project experience in transportation, land development, or municipal infrastructure, and note your visa status clearly in your application or cover letter so recruiters can route you correctly.
Which visa types does Horrocks commonly use for Civil Project Engineer roles?
Horrocks has worked with candidates on H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas for engineering roles. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals working in professional engineering occupations and is often faster to obtain than the H-1B. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates before transitioning to an H-1B.
What qualifications does Horrocks expect for Civil Project Engineer candidates?
Horrocks typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program, along with relevant project experience in areas like roadway design, grading, drainage, or utility coordination. Progress toward Professional Engineer licensure is a plus. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with local DOT standards in western U.S. states will strengthen your application considerably.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process typically take at an engineering firm like Horrocks?
From offer to work authorization, timelines vary by visa type. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border in a single day. H-1B processing through USCIS takes three to six months for standard filing, or two to four weeks with premium processing. For OPT candidates, your authorization is already in place, so onboarding can move quickly once an offer is signed.
